Target Responds to Jason Wu Vultures at Midtown Miami, Says More Pieces Will Be In Stock

If you lined up to get some pieces from high-end designer Jason Wu's limited edition budget-priced line at the Midtown Miami Target store on Saturday morning, you were stymied by a couple who quickly swooped in and bought the entire stock. Riptide has reached out to Target, and while they didn't address the incident directly, the chain promises that more items from the collection will continue to "trickle" into stores. Target also claims it is reevaluating the policies that let the couple buy most of the collection in the first place.

Here's the statement we received from Target:
Response to the launch of Jason Wu for Target has been incredibly strong. Many of our stores are sold out of the collection or running low. The collection will not be restocked; however, product will continue to trickle in through the chain and online at Target.com in the coming days and weeks. We'd encourage guests to check their local Target store and Target.com regularly if they'd like to purchase a piece of Jason Wu for Target.

Regarding product limitations, we tested product limitations online at Target.com and are encouraged by the positive feedback we've received from our guests. We did not enforce product limitations in our stores. The retail landscape is constantly evolving and we realize that consumer appetite for our limited-edition design collections has changed, most notably with last fall's launch of Missoni for Target. We will continue to look at all aspects of our limited-edition programming to ensure we're offering guests the best possible experience, both in our stores and online at Target.com
The practice of people swiping up large quantities of special budget-priced designer collections has become quite widespread. Often those clothes wind up on eBay for marked up prices. Despite only launching on Saturday, there are just under 12,000 Jason Wu for Target items currently listed on eBay.

H&M, another store noted for its designer collaborations, has installed strict rules for customers shopping the collection. For its Versace collection H&M only allowed customers to buy two pieces of any particular item.

I am one of the jobless with an obvious disability.  No one will hire me.  I had 3 interviews this week by hiring managers and one actually said he was uncomfortable hiring me because of my disability.  I average about 2-12 interviews each month and have been out for two years.  I am losing my house while the ignorant people all around me in life WITH jobs are telling me to "get up and stop being lazy and GO GET A JOB."

THIS kind of callousness of the general public is what CAUSES people like this couple to buy all of a cheap item and scalp all the people who either stood aside or chimed in with the bullying.  "If America is spending itself into oblivion, I might as well help."

I just may decide to follow this couple's act and screw everybody else on great deals, too.

The "Debbie Spend It Now" types who can afford to go shopping for the latest trends DESERVE to pay triple the rate on E-Bay since most of them have NO sense of equality nor do they give to those in need.  These people who feel so holier-than-thou (called "tall poppies" in Africa) and who are SO status-conscious need to seriously think about how they treat the downtrodden in life before coming to such quick judgment against a couple of people seeking to make a quick buck.

These outraged people are the same ones who will say that a bullied kid MUST have done something to deserve it.

These outraged people are the same ones who stand in line at the shoe shop with 20 credit cards, all maxed out and some in collections, and wonder why the economy is so bad.

These outraged people remind me of the woman I met at Mass who proudly said that she gets in front of the "fast" people so she can hit the brakes and force them to slow down.  She drives 5 miles under the speed limits everywhere.

These outraged people are the same ones who support regulations that cause the police to shut down a child's lemonade stand.

These outraged people are the same ones with 9/11 syndrome who support the idea of TSA being on our roads to search cars.

These outraged people are the same types that cheer on soldiers peeing on dead bodies of "the enemy" and then wonder why the families are so upset.

These outraged people are the ones who support loitering laws because they believe that poverty displayed in public should be outlawed.

I pray that the people who slam this enterprising couple for not following nonexistent rules get what they have given.

Really? Over clothes? Is it really that important to some of you to be the first person on your block with one of these? Wake up and smell the advertising! Is it really more important to wear someone elses idea of fashion, or to set your own fashion trend?

I dont give a rat's behind who wears what, I wear what I like and I feel comfortable in, Period! And that sure as heck doesnt mean buying some overpriced piece of fabric just because someone kinda famous wore it.

Some folks need to find a 'real' life.

It actually is a big deal. Its gross what those people did. Thats whats wrong with this society, and this city. Have some integrity, act like a decent human. Is it that difficult! Why should some money grubbing looser be able to walk into a store, buy every piece of the collection and then turn around on ebay and jack the price up? Everyone in this city is out for themselves, there is no sense of community or decency. All vultures!

I don't appreciate how Target avoided having to answer for their lack of actions. They only said that products will 'trickle in', and reminded everyone of how popular this product is...blah.  When asked for a statement about the incident regarding the vulture couple, they merely give 'no-answer' answers.  With this rotten customer service, they will drive away their customers.  I didn't particularly want clothes, but I sure did want (very badly) that sweet kitty scarf & tote.  I will not buy them from greedy hags like that Miami couple.

I actually believe this was on Sunday, as I walked into the store at about 8:30am to find the purchase being made. People were outraged even taking pictures of the couple. They snatched up all the Blue dresses with the red trim. The signature dress from the Target ad. If the company does not put a ban on it, they are just trying to beat the system and make a buck.

Costumers ? Really? while we are talking about clothes, I believe the word you are looking for is customers. It's called "proofreading".

Well, they were there at 6:30 AM on Saturday. Maybe they should've just ripped the clothes away from the vultures, isn't that Republican way?

What a stupid comment you've made.  Every comment you've made using your profile is jab at people who don't vote as you.  New flash, you'll continue to be an angry right winger for the next four years.
