The Chad Henne Era is Over for the Miami Dolphins
Henne will likely become an unrestricted free agent on March 13th, and the Fins have no interest in keeping him around. They'll look elsewhere to upgrade the QB position.
Henne was drafted by the Dolphins back in 2008 in the second round. Henne saw little action in his first season, but took over starter duty after Chad Pennington was seriously injured in 2009. While there were flashes of brilliance and gradual improvement over his career, his time with the Dolphins was hampered by injury. He went out in the fourth game of last season and never returned.
"This football team didn't win enough games when he was quarterback here. But that doesn't mean he did everything wrong, or right," GM Jeff Ireland said of Henne last month. "If he goes somewhere else, Chad's a good football player. He can play in this league."
The Dolphins meanwhile will be looking for a new QB this season. While they're believed to be targeting either Matt Flynn or possibly Peyton Manning, the team could also trade up in the draft.
