Joaquin Serrapio Wants to Apologize to Obama For Threatening to Kill Him
Serrapio's attorney says that he had no actual intent to kill the president while he spoke at the University of Miami last month, and that he wants to apologize.
Serrapio is a local musician who fronts The J. Valor Band under the stage name of Jay Valor. He maintained Facebook and Twitter accounts under the Valor name, and made several posts threatening to kill Obama. His Twitter account also had several other disturbing messages. He's since made his Twitter accessible to friends only.
"Who wants to help me assassinate Obummer while hes at UM this week?" he wrote on Facebook last week, two days before the president spoke in Miami.
"If anyones going to UM to see obama today, get ur phones out an record. Cause at any moment im gonna put a bullet through his head and u don't wanna miss that! Youtube!" he posted the morning before Obama's speech.
"Secret service where u at! I threatened ur precious tyrant! Ull b sorry u didnt come lookong for me in a couple of hours ;)," he wrote on Twitter that day.
The Secret Service did actually raid his home not too long after that Tweet. They found several text messages to his friends in which he appeared to be genuine about his plan to kill Obama, but only two airsoft pellet guns were found.
Valor has previously admitted to authorities that he was responsible for the threatening internet postings.
