Miamians Are America's Biggest Hotel Kleptos: 52 Percent Say They've Stolen

Maybe, though, that's because we also take the most vacation days from work and spend the most time traveling abroad.
Living Social's survey was conducted across 20 cities in America, and 5,600 participants were polled.
Thirty-nine percent of Americans say they've taken something from a hotel room. In contrast, a staggering 52 percent of Miamians say they've gotten their sticky fingers on hotel property. That's the most of any of the cities surveyed. So what are Miamians taking?
- 37 percent say they've taken towels
- 8 percent have snatched a robe
- 7 percent pilfered bed sheets
- 6 percent stole a remote control (how they expect it to work with their home tv, well, we're not exactly sure).
Miamians also rank first for the number of vacation days taken from work. On average we take 21.4 days off, compared to the national average of 14.8.
We also rank first for numbers of days spent abroad, with 7.4 on average, compared to the national average of 3.7 days. That stat isn't that much of a surprise considering our large immigrant population and the fact our airport is a hub to Latin America.
Interestingly, we're also ranked second for those of us who volunteer on vacation. Not sure how that happened, considering traditionally we rank low on most volunteerism rankings.
Living Social also asked Miamians which celeb they'd most like to take a trip with. Here's the top five:
- Ellen Degeneres
- Oprah Winfrey
- Rihanna
- Shakira
- Leonardo DiCaprio
