NRA Selling Concealed-Carry Hoodies

Categories: News
nrahoodie.jpg
Much has been made of the fact that Trayvon Martin was wearing a hoodie when he died, with Geraldo Rivera even suggesting that his choice in wardrobe was as much responsible for his death as George Zimmerman. Apparently the choice of attire of hung-over college kids sitting in chilly lecture rooms is somehow threatening and should be worn by only white people.

Well, the National Rifle Association, the organization that championed the Stand Your Ground Law, has been selling hoodies of its own. But not just any hoodies. Hoodies that are specifically designed to conceal a handgun.

The NRA's online store boasts how easy it is to hide a gun in your specially designed hoodie, which sells for $59.95 to $64.94.
We want concealed carry to fit around your lifestyle - not the other way around. That's why we developed the NRAstore™ exclusive Concealed Carry Hooded Sweatshirt. It's the only garment of its kind we know of! Made from a pre-shrunk, heavyweight 50% cotton / 50% polyester blend, we've taken a standard 9 oz. fleece sweatshirt design and added a full-body polyester lining for added warmth, durability, wind resistance and weight distribution. Inside the sweatshirt you'll find left and right concealment pockets. The included Velcro®-backed holster and double mag pouch can be repositioned inside the pockets for optimum draw. Ideal for carrying your favorite compact to mid-size pistol, the NRA Concealed Carry Hooded Sweatshirt gives you an extra tactical edge, because its unstructured, casual design appears incapable of concealing a heavy firearm - but it does so with ease! Includes drawstring hood, cotton/spandex ribbed cuffs and waistband, two front pouch pockets and a discreet black zipper. Includes one Velcro® holster and one Velcro® mag pouch.
It's ridiculous to suggest as Rivera did that a hoodie is in any way threatening on its own --  but you might want to memorize the look of that one.

Amazing write-up! This could aid plenty of people find out more about this particular issue. Are you keen to integrate video clips coupled with these? It would absolutely help out. Your conclusion was spot on and thanks to you; I probably won’t have to describe everything to my pals. I can simply direct them here!

Warmup suits are generally bad fashion choices all around, although this might be good when it's somewhat nippy out and you want to go for a walk or bike ride.

There is nothing wrong with a hoodie in it's self. The only issue is that it can disguise a would be criminal and prevent positive identification. No different that wearing a hat and sunglasses and pulling up the collar on your shirt.

Great choices of hoodies from the colors and I can even create my custom hoodies from this site! Fantastic! and here's more I can choose between 50/50 or 80/20 cotton/poly fleece which means that it is cooler on the body and even on summer I can even wear my custom hoodies... No doubt you're the no.1 choice of the people! Two thumbs for you!

The hoodie is cool. But I don't believe you can fit a S&W .500 Magnum in it. Just guessing.

RIP trayvon. wish he had been sporting this hoodie for a fair fight with zimmerman.

This article is lame.  It's more of the media slant that we've been seeing.  The spin that paints this issue as a racial one.  Bringing this up is only going to result in more of these garments beings sold.  It's only going to raise the racial tension in this country closer to the boiling point and total chaos.

Just when you think the NRA can't possibly get scumbag lower...

The only "scumbags" are the ones taking sides before facts are in evidence. NRA is an honorable 141-y.o. organization made up of millions of law-abiding citizens who cherish their constitutional rights. The NRA has been selling hooded sweatshirts along with other apparel for gun enthusiasts for quite awhile now, and your hatred will not stop them. Get off the Sharpton circus bandwagon.

Does anyone know why Trayvon was in the neighborhood? Was he going to a friends? Or is the media not bothering with that bit of information?

Ed Taylor

The Wikipedia article states that his father's fiancee lived there and he was visiting her and his father. He lived with his mother in the Miami area.

. . . very informative response. Hope you didn't hurt yourself. I asked the question because I have poor eyesight and reading through masses of small print is not easy. I assumed he was visiting someone and now, thanks to you're less than enlightening reply . . .

You have a nice day. Thanks again.

Sausage - still a charmer I see. Eyesight issues are relatively recent and it prohibits the amount of time I can spend staring at a screen.

Hope you don't get too hot in Florida this summer. The heat down there is wicked awful. Okay, I'm done with discussing things with a piece of meat.

PS - I never used the word "sucks", that was all you. Not much of a wordsmith I'm guessing.

Oh ok so I guess I should have interpreted what you wrote ("Or is the media not bothering with that bit of information?") as "My eyesight sucks and reading is difficult" instead of what you wrote.

Poor eyesight yet you have left more than 1,400 comments on various sites?

Many thanks Gene. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to send that information. I do wish that all the media would report facts of a story and not make up 90% of it to sway opinion.

Things like this make me realize that being a senior citizen is NOT the bad news. I worry for the younger generations who have no idea what they will be facing.

Thank you again for you kind and informative response. I wish you and yours all the best.

At first, the media was reporting that Trayvon's father lived in that community.  Then it was reported that he was passing through this community on his way to his father's house.  Now the story is that he had a friend who lived within the community.  I think they also reported this community as being gated, but I'm not sure on that fact yet.  Seems like the media keeps changing the story as to exactly why Trayvon was present there.  My point is that the media will put a spin on this in whichever way gets the largest amount of viewers.

They made that to show that wearing a hoodie is not threatening. It's also to let the thought sneak it's way in your narrow minds that if everyone (including trayvon) carried a gun this would be a different story. We would be celebrating the death of a racist moron with archaic views instead of mourning an intelligent and capable man who had a great future ahead of him. And for all you "guns kill people" parasites. If that idiot zimmerman had a kitchen knife instead of a gun, do you think the outcome would have been any different? Maybe we should outlaw all steak houses for providing weapons!

They made it before anyone had ever heard of George Zimmerman or Trayvon Martin. This item is not a "response" to anything but a known market demand for concealment garments, which also includes vests, jackets, fanny packs, etc., and its only "purpose" is to provide a comfortable carry alternative for those who don't like holsters.

Samick2me

Arik, Why do you call the deceased "an intelligent and capable man who had a great future ahead of him"?  The media suggests that he was a pot smoking thug. Do you have other info?

Sam - that gold grill in his mouth was going to make it difficult for him to fit in most corporate settings. Think many employers might have found his Facebook name a tad off-putting also. Like you, I'd like to know more about his background. His parents have already joined the Sharpton traveling circus and have attorneys busy securing "trayon" for the intellectual property rights for future movie deals, etc.

Egads!

What a dumba**. A hoodie is a pullover. This is a sweatshirt. Everyone knows that.

you're not seeing it right.  It is a pullover.  The zipper is part of the concealment mechanism.
