Which is pretty much like showing up under your high school crush's balcony window with a pack of mariachis playing love songs, only to tell her when she comes outside: "Oh, wow, um, really? This is your window? I was just, you know, walking by with some mariachis. What a coincidence."
Manning's private jet touched down at Opa-locka Executive Airport at 4:20 yesterday, just four hours after his press conference in Indianapolis. With the Dolphins desperate for a quarterback, his arrival seemed like a not-so-subtle wink in our direction.
"I literally have not had one conversation with anyone about these teams," he said. "It has been so hard for me trying to figure out some closure with my situation with the Colts... I haven't thought about teams and I don't know who is interested, I really don't. This is all new to me."
Then, after name-dropping his ex-team like a lover scorned, Manning blew Dolfans the interview version of a kiss.
"But look, the Miami Dolphins have a great organization, a great history there, they have new people in place," he added before driving toward his condo in Miami Beach.
Meanwhile, former Hurricane wide receiver Reggie Wayne says that he's interested in reuniting with Manning on the Dolphins.
"My phone is working. It's definitely working. I got all my bars. Whenever that phone rings, trust me, I'll answer," Wayne said about the idea of talking to the Dolphins.
