Sometimes when you get a bunch of unsupervised kids with heightened emotions together, bad things happen.

Though the vast majority of demonstrations at Miami-Dade high schools have been peaceful and orderly, a small group of protesters from North Miami Beach High School apparently lost control and decided it was a good idea to ransack a Walgreens.

Video surveillance captured the incident.

A peaceful walkout was planned at North Miami Beach High School in remembrance of Trayvon Martin last Friday at 11 a.m. According to Local 10, as many as 500 students took part, but a small group broke the peace. About 80 to 100 students flooded into a nearby Walgreens.

About $150 worth of damage was caused. It hasn't been confirmed whether any merchandise was taken. "We all understand that this is a very emotional issue, but when our businesses or our community are negatively impacted by anyone breaking a law, we will enforce those laws without question," North Miami Beach Interim Police Chief Larry Gomer said in a statement.

The school's vice principal was on the premises and ordered the students out.

that was a long time ago, nice effort though on your part to bring up a man's past drug addiction..what is your perhaps hidden and current addiction?

Ya know Rev Sharpton, if he is a religious man as his title suggests, sure goes around stirring up an awful lot of hate. If he was truly enlightened, his actions would reflect thusly.

Let's hope that school officials use this video footage to prosecute the students responsible for this mayhem. After all, being responsible for your actions is part of growing up.

School officials can't prosecute anyone. It's up to the store owner and the District Attorney. School officials can, however, discipline the kids, provided they can positively identify anyone. I haven't seen the footage yet, but if it's anything like most security camera footage they'll have a hard time.

(Edit: according to the story the Vice Principal orderd kids out, so he probably can identify a few of them.)

"School officials can't prosecute anyone. It's up to the store owner and the District Attorney."-- YES, but the school officials certainly could assist in identifying these future felons and offer their names up to prosecutors which I certainly hope they do.

So this is how they pay tribute to Trayvon Martin? By going on a crime spree?

Nice and classy.

LOL, that's sorta like hoping Rush Limbaugh isn't addicted to Oxycontin.

$150=ransacking? doesn't a village have to burn for it to qualify as ransacking?
