Florida Women Make 80 Cents for Every Dollar a Man Makes; Latinas Make Only 66 Cents

Here's the bad news: That gap still means a Florida woman makes 80 cents to every dollar a man makes, and the gap is even more noticeable for black and Hispanic women.
According to a study conducted by the National Partnership for Women & Families, the pay gap varies greatly throughout the country, but in no state do women make more than men. Washington, D.C., has the smallest gap, with women making 91 cents for every dollar a man makes. Of actual states, Vermont has the smallest gap, with a 16-cent difference. Wyoming has the largest gap, with women making 36 cents less than men make.
Florida's gap is small compared to most states and smaller than the national average of 77 cents for women to every dollar for men. Though, the gap grows for minority women.
African-American women in Florida make just 71 cents for every dollar men make. Latinas make just 66 cents for every dollar made by men.
"As a group, full-time working women in Florida lose approximately $20,141,201,236 each year due to the wage gap," the National Partnership writes.
The group finds that the gap persists regardless of the number of children a woman has, which industry she works in, or her level of education.
"Women with doctoral degrees are paid less than men with master's degrees, and women with master's degrees are paid less than men with bachelor's degrees," the report concludes.
