Unlike the other teams, however, the Heat won't be opening a mini-version of an existing Miami Beach club, and will instead open an outpost of Hyde Lounge, located on L.A.'s Sunset Strip.
The Heat has partnered with SBE Entertainment Group LLC to open the venue.
"In one respect, Hyde will be a new amenity for our best customers," Eric Woolworth, president of business operations for the Miami Heat, tells Bloomberg News. "It adds a hip quotient and panache, and it's also another space we can market for parties and private events."
There is already a restaurant/nightclub on the grounds of the AAA -- Gloria Estefan's Bongos Café -- but Hyde will actually be inside the arena and open during games and events.
"People want to connect when they go to a game or a concert, but there's no place for them to intermingle," Sam Nazarian, owner of the L.A.-based SBE, tells Bloomberg. "With Hyde... it gives people a chance to stay."
Hyde Lounge will not be the only new Miami expansion for Nazarian's SBE Entertainment Group. On June 14, the SLS Hotel South Beach will open in the former location of the Ritz Plaza.
The property will include another Hyde location, dubbed Hyde Beach. So it turns out the Heat's club will have a Miami Beach counterpart after all.
