Woman Jumps to Her Death from Aventura Mall Parking Garage: Third Suicide in a Month

For the third time in a month, a person has committed suicide at Aventura Mall. A still unidentified Hispanic woman in her mid-40s jumped to her death from atop a parking garage at the nation's fifth largest shopping mall yesterday afternoon at around 2:30.

According to the Miami Herald, a witness saw the woman preparing to jump but failed to talk her out of taking her life. Authorities have not yet been able to identify the woman. She was carrying no forms of identification, and her finger prints were not in a database.

"If somebody wants to kill themselves... there's no rhyme no reason," Aventura Police Major Skip Washa told Huffington Post Miami. "There's no way to really try to prevent that."

It's the third suicide at the mall in less than a month.

On March 14, 21-year-old Morvin Andre leaped to his death while trying to evade loss prevention officers outside of the mall's Bloomingdale's store. That death was ruled a suicide.

On March 19, a 15-year-old boy jumped to his death from atop a parking garage at 1:10 in the morning.

Before this month, the mall had only seen one other suicide in its nearly 27-year history. Back in 2007, 19-year-old Daniel De Jesus Cespedes jumped off a parking garage while trying to evade police. Cespedes, the former boyfriend of MySpace "celebrity" Kiki Kanibal, was being arrested for dating a 14-year-old. He tried to jump onto the top of a moving van, but hit the concrete and later died in the hospital.

I would feel like jumping after a day at Aventorture Mall too.  The Jews are responsible for this tragedy.  Overcharged the poor woman for a hair straightener I'm sure and then refused to offer a refund when she tried to return it.

This is a very sad event, especially for family and friends of this lady who must havefelt utter despair. I wish to comment on the Aventura Police Majors statement that implies if someone is suicidal there is no way to intervene and thus prevent them killing themselves. This is one of one of many myths surrounding the topic of suicide and isincorrect. I dont blame this gentleman in particular but if a senior police officer isso uneducated on this topic, what hope is there for others in the police force as wellas the genersl public. It takes two people to prevent a suicide....you just may be thatperson one day who can simply stay with someone, talk to them, show you careabout their intended actions. Aventura Police Office, please educate yourself

I'm sorry, but I don't consider it suicide when someone is running from the police and makes a dumb decision. A terrible and unnecessary accident, but not a suicide.

You ingnornant motherfucker. What the fuck is wrong with you. Your comment was unnecessary & heartless. How would you feel if one if your family members was killed by officers & being covered up. And any person you decides to take their lives must have been going thru tremendous pain to make that devistating decision to take their own life. When you write ignorant shit think about your family first & how you would feel asshole.
