Carlos Morales shows evidence of his injuries

If you walk past the Miami-Dade County courthouse this week, you'll probably see a clean-cut Cuban in slacks, a dress shirt, and rimless glasses. Carlos Morales will be holding a large white sign with black lettering that reads, "Judge Victoria Platzer does not represent justice, only the will of the insurance company."

You might assume Morales is just another South Florida foreclosure victim. Ask him his story, though, and you'll realize your mistake.

"I was at this strip club," Morales explains in Spanish, pulling out a binder. He opens it to a large, glossy photo of his bloody, swollen face. A more gruesome pic shows his left ankle with a six-inch surgical cut. "The bouncer attacked me."

Morales's legal fight began October 4, 2009, when he visited Showgirls, a club in Cutler Bay where the Snapper Creek Expressway meets South Dixie Highway. Morales was sipping a drink when a stripper started chatting him up. When his eyes kept falling on her bare breasts, she told him to go ahead and touch them, Morales claims. "That's what they do to get you to pay for a private dance," he says.

Instead of paying up, however, Morales went to the toilet. Bad decision.

A bouncer followed him. "What the fuck are you doing with my girl?" the bouncer asked before allegedly punching Morales. When two more bouncers joined the fray, Morales says, he was thrown through the bathroom partition. His shoulder was dislocated and his left ankle was shattered.

But when cops arrived, the bouncers claimed Morales had been caught stealing perfume. He was charged with battery and attempted theft. The theft charge was dropped, and a judge allowed Morales to attend anger management classes to avoid the battery rap. Yet the incident cost him his job. His ankle required surgery.

Carlos Morales's one-man picket line continues...
Morales sued Showgirls a few weeks later. This past January, a jury awarded him $56,085.31. Judge Platzer tacked on another $10,000 for future physical suffering.

But Morales isn't satisfied. He wanted $500,000 and thinks he would have gotten it had the judge and his lawyer, Alan Anchell, done their jobs. "They hid evidence and manipulated the jury," he claims.

Anchell insists he did his best for Morales. Meanwhile, Platzer says she cannot comment on an open case.

Showgirls co-owner Michael Laughlin claims Morales started the fight and is lying about it to extort the club. "Carlos Morales has this grand story," he says, "but my guys did not go in there and beat him up."

(He adds that Morales was the only one charged in the fight and that the jury found him -- not the strip club -- 60 percent responsible.)

Morales plans to complain to the Florida Bar about the lawyer and the judge, and to file for an appeal.

His one-man picket line continues ...

This guy sounds like he got what he deserves! What was a gay porn star (google it) doing in a strip club anyway?

I think it's quite funny that Carlos Morales changes his story depending on who's listening. Seems the story Carlos Morales told not to long ago had the dancer being the girlfriend of the bathroom worker, but now he says it was the bouncer's girlfriend. I have yet to be to a bar where they allow couples to work together, so that part of the story sounds fishy to me. You would think if this story were true, there would be a long list of guys who got beat up for touching the dancer- after all- Morales wouldn't have been the first to ogle her breasts- every guy in the bar would have seen her boobies when she ws on stage. But the reality is the dancer (If she truly exists- and is more than a made up part of his story) wasn't the girlfriend of anyone. I don't know if Morales is a thief-but I know he's a liar. I just may go see him downtown and see what other version of this story he's gonna tell.

This is a one sided article that doesn’t represent what reallyhappened. Carlos Morales was cited that night for theft and battery to which helater plead no contest, coincidentally which is also how he plead on threeother charges in his legal history. If you plead no contest it cannot bebrought up in future civil and (if I am correct) misdemeanor cases. The articlewould have better represented the truth if the reporter would have shown the alleged“large, glossy photo of his bloody, swollen face” which does not exist. Whywould a reporter leave that juicy tidbit out?  It would have been nice if they would havealso shown the pictures supplied in the case of the bathroom attendant heattacked and bit in the throat. The security personal couldn’t lift the two menoff each other because Carlos Morales had his teeth planted firmly into thethroat of the bathroom attendant. The reporter also failed to contact the realvictim in the case as listed in the police report and if he did he would haverealized that the bathroom attendant is a sweet, soft spoken, slightly chubbykid who doesn’t have an arrest record, still lives with his mom, and is workingtwo jobs to save up to get his own place. The “reporter” also fails to mentionthat at trial Carlos Morales limped to the stand with the use of a cane to givetestimony. The defense showed, in court, a video of him getting around just fineand video of him at the gym using an exercise bike at Lance Armstrong intensityfor an hour. Carlos Morales, in court, described himself as a body builder. CarlosMorales did not lose his job as is stated in the article. The defense alsoshowed his gym attendance records.  Withinthirty days of this article Carlos Morales was back in the gym hitting it hardon a regular basis- even with a broken ankle. Ask yourself this:  if threedoormen , each over six feet tall, and a bathroom attendant went in andstomped, kicked, and punched Carlos Morales for the amount of time he claims, where is the picture of a man that got beat up. Where is the bruising up anddown his body? Where is the torn clothing? Where is the broken nose, bloody lipor missing tooth? The answer:  “There areno pictures or evidence that supports this claim of group mauling”. He supplieda photo showing slight discoloration of his face and slight puffiness consistentwith rolling around the floor with the bathroom attendant. His ankle had aclean fracture that could also be consistent with falling with the bathroomattendant. I f he would have had three huge “bouncers” kick his ass and punchhim in the face- his rimless glasses would have also been smashed but they weren’t.Prosecutors would have had a field day with such images or proof of this allegedbeat down. Carlos Morales did take pictures in preparation for a lawsuit but nobloody shirt, broken glasses or pictures of this exist. Really???  The biggest thing left out of the article isthat the jury said that Carlos Morales was 60% at fault for the incident.  If you steal and attack someone they have aright to defend themselves and if you read all the facts involved with thiscase you will see from the original complaint to now Carlos Morales wants toblame the cops, judge, his lawyer, the defendants lawyers and everyone buthimself. He was awarded money to cover true expenses and Florida law mandatesthat pain and suffering be awarded which the jury did award in the amount of (ifmemory serves me correct) : $1. Florida law mandates a mathematical formulathat raised it to the $10,000. This is a one sided story that without whole setof facts that are part of the record this story becomes pretty boring. Nice jobwith the sensationalism to hurt small business and sell papers.

Idiot bouncers at Strip Clubs are always beating up customers. It could have been worse, customers at the drug club Space get murdered and set on fire in dumpsters. Sometimes Club Space's DJ's murder their own girlfriends.

It seems to me that MBOT is part of the attackers defense or works for the judge, It does not really matter to me if there's previus record on this victim of abuse (Carlos Morales), the facts are that he was beaten and, there is not justice in this case.
