Florida Doctor Arrested for DUI, Spits Blood on Trooper, Goes Insane on Video
Once placed in handcuffs in the backseat of a trooper's car, Bird went wild, banged his head against the car until it bled, screamed at the officers to stop stealing his money, and spit blood in an officer's face. The graphic video taken from the car's dash cam has been released.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Bird had the smell of alcohol on his breath, glassy eyes, and an unsteady stance. He refused to submit to a blood test and failed a field sobriety test.
Officers found $40,000 in cash in Dr. Bird's pocket and another $14,000 in his BMW. There was also a .44-caliber revolver and a .45-caliber semiautomatic, a bottle full of pills, and a vial of unidentified liquid in the car.
During Bird's physical protest, money began to spill out his pocket and he loudly accused the officers of trying to steal it, though they assured him they were doing no such thing.
Bird eventually bloodied his head and began kicking the door of the car (which caused a few hundred dollars in damage). Blood dripped down his face into his mouth, and after he got out of the car he spits blood on the officers. He was taking to a hospital where his tantrum continued, and he kicked a light fixture above his hospital bed. Afterward he was booked into jail on charges of DUI, criminal mischief, battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest.
Basically dude was acting like a crazy asshole of the highest order.
Bird worked as a anesthesiologist at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville through medical contractor TeamHealth. TeamHealth has suspended him, and the Medical Center says he is no longer welcome at their facilities.
Of course the guy has a South Florida tie. He used to live in Broward County and worked at a plastic surgery center.
