Its a sad, sad day in the Miami sports world. The Marlins got stomped last night. Longtime Dolphin Yeremiah Bell is now a Jet. And, well, the less said about the Heat the better. So, lets try and focus on a tiny bit of good news for the only team that truly matters: the Miami Hurricanes.

The team just got a strong verbal commitment from the seventh-ranked quarterback of the 2013 class, Kevin Olsen. He happens to be the young brother of former Cane and current Chicago Bear tight end Gregg Olsen.

"Kevin always felt very strong about Miami," his father told the Miami Herald. "He had some good choices. Last week or two, he indicated to my wife and me that he wanted to go to Miami. My wife and I said, 'Let's make sure.' On Wednesday night, he wanted to call coach Golden. I wanted him to make sure [and take another day]."

Dad also adds that Kevin, "bought into Miami getting back to being Miami."

Olsen is currently ranked the 7th best QB in the 2013 class by Rivals.com. ESPN lists him as a four-star recruit, and 77th on the ESPN 150. It's an impressive get by a team that is still awaiting NCAA sanctions and still trying to find its way under head coach Al Golden. South Carolina, Auburn, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Carolina and, oh yeah, FSU had also made offers.

Of course, verbal commitments aren't binding, but the family seems 100 percent sure that Kevin will suit up in Orange and Green in 2013.

The 'Canes current QB corp includes junior Stephen Morris, who has made previous starts for the team but sat out spring practice with an injury, and sophomore Ryan Williams. Gray Crow and Preston Dewey also committed to this past signing day.
