Jacory Harris Cut from Philadelphia Eagles

Quarterback U? Not anymore. It seems Jacory Harris' NFL fate is starting to look like a lot of other recent former University of Miami quarterbacks, as Harris was cut from the Philadelphia Eagles' roster just ten days after having been signed by the team.

Harris had participated in the Miami Dolphins minicamp after going undrafted, but was never offered a contract. He quickly signed with the Eagles, but he's now been cut. That doesn't mean he couldn't land elsewhere, but unfortunately his tale is taking a similar path as other former U QBs.

Harris's most recent Canes predecessor, Robert Marve, still has a year of eligibility left at Purdue. Kyle Wright, the last significant Hurricanes starter to actually graduate, went undrafted in 2008 but spent a few months on the Vikings roster before being waived over the summer. He was claimed by the 49ers but failed to make the final roster there too. Kirby Freeman spent a few weeks with the 49ers in 2009, but was similarly cut. Brock Berlin bounced around various team's preseason rosters for a while. He actually started a game for the St. Louis Rams in 2007, but saw little action after that and was cut in 2009. Ken Dorsey had a bit more success in the NFL, and we mean just a little bit, but retired as a player after spending a year as a second stringer in the CFL.

Granted, the school did produce Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, and Vinny Testaverde, but it's hard to make an argument that the school has any sort of hold of the oft-used QB U nickname anymore. Maybe Kevin Olsen will help turn things around?

Did anybody actually think Harris would make it in the NFL? He struggled at the college level...no way is / was going to  make it.
