In 2008 President Obama got the unprecedented support of Oprah Winfrey. This time around he can add the support of Cristina Saralegui, "the Latina Oprah," to his campaign. It's the first ever presidential endorsement from the Cuban-American media mogul.

"This is a critical time for our country and for the Hispanic community," said Saralegui. "Hispanics could very well decide the next election, and I will do everything I can from now until November to ensure that President Obama is re-elected; there's simply too much at stake."

The Obama campaign released both English and Spanish endorsement videos.

Both President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney are chasing the Hispanic vote hard, and while Republicans have traditionally been able to count on the support of the Cuban American community, that vote has been slightly shifting in recent years.

Saralegui is not the first prominent Cuban-American icon to lend Barack Obama her support. Gloria and Emilio Estefan hosted a DNC fundraiser with the Prez at their Star Island home in 2010.
