North Miami Beach Man on Synthetic Drug Growls at Police and Tries to Bite Officer's Hand

Another week, another local man on synthetic drugs showing bizarre behavior with a penchant for biting others. Brandon DeLeon, a North Miami Beach man, is under arrest for walking into a Boston Market and trying to get into a fight with two police officers who were dining at the restaurant. Once in custody, he growled at officers and tried to bite one's hand. Officers believe he was under the influence of "Cloud 9," a synthetic drug.

According to WSVN, two North Miami Beach officers were in the Boston Market on Saturday night when DeLeon, a homeless man, walked in. DeLeon began shouting obscenities at the officers and threatened to fight them, so obviously he found himself quickly in handcuffs.

Things got stranger when they took him to jail however.

"While at the holding cell, DeLeon banged his head repeatedly inside the holding cell," reads an officer's safety bulletin. "DeLeon growled at officers in the booking area like a rabid dog. DeLeon attempted to bite Officer Ruiz's hand off."

The bulletin of course makes reference to Rudy Eugene's face chewing exploits.

"It was later discovered DeLeon had taken a synthetic drug named Cloud 9. This bears resemblance to the incident that occurred in the City of Miami last week when a male ate another man's face. Please be careful when dealing with our homeless population during your patrols."

Although it doesn't bear that much of a resemblance.

There's no confirmation yet, but only speculation that Eugene was high on bath salts, a type of synthetic cocaine. Online, there are both bath salts and brands of synthetic marijuana called "Cloud 9;" it's not clear which variety DeLeon had taken. Eugene was also not homeless.

WSVN also says that DeLeon had the "caffeinated, alcoholic beverage Four Loko in his system." Though, Four Loko is no longer sold with caffeine, so that's also not quite true.

At a bond hearing DeLeon said he couldn't recall anything that had actually happened. He remains in jail on $5,500 bond.

I Must say how sad it is how the media takes a small situation and makes it bigger then it actually happened.. Your Facts are wrong since you where not at Boston Market the day of this accident w cops.. I was there on line and it did not go down as the cops told you WSVN 7 !! What's worse is how the MEDIA WSVN made this situation bigger by lambing his actions on a drug that Miami Dade is trying to ban.. He was not on any cloud 9 or bath salt etc.. Deleon was on alcohol since I did see him drinking outside arguing w another bum as I was walking into Boston market.. The two bums n Deleon took there argument into Boston market not knowing there was 8 North Miami Beach Cops eating food at a table close to the door.. The other bum told Deleon to relax cause cops where right there looking at them, that's when Deleon said he didn't care w a curse word .. That's when the arresting officer jumped out his seat and attacked Deleon by grabbing him by his neck and dragging him out the door and slamming him on the floor before handcuffing him .. On his way to car arresting officer through him on floor where he cut himself on face..

The media has also failed to disclose that the term "bath salts" is used to describe a number of "research chemicals". This has led the public to believe that "bath salts" are just a new recreational synthetic drug, such as MDPV, or mepherdrone. However, any "bath salts" could be a number of other substances, namely cathinone or one of it's many substituted derivatives. But instead of regulation which would require disclosure of active ingredients, we still believe in "just say no" and complete disregard for any type of harm reduction programs. Even just a little education on the matter would certainly saves lives, and stop many from suffering.

Cloud 9 can be a lot of things. There's a cannabinoid blend called Cloud 9, but there's a stimulant with the same brand name.

That's the problem with this new wave of semi-legal synthetic drugs, you can call them anything (Dinosaur Dung, Dick Breath) and there's no way of knowing what's in them or how to judge a correct dose. Lab tests show that the amount of MDPV in "bath salts" varies greatly not only from brand to brand but from package to package within the same brand.
