The victim is, incredibly, the ninth pedestrian killed by Miami drivers in the past week.
The incident occurred at the intersection of North Miami Avenue and 79th Street at about 5:18 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Cameras installed at Gonzalo Jimenez's tire store caught the incident on tape. Police are now looking for a black, four-door car with front-end damage.
"They didn't hit a dog or anything, they hit a human being," Jimenez told NBC Miami.
"Our investigation revealed that we may have a black-colored Pontiac or a black-colored vehicle with extensive front-end damage and with windshield damage," Miami Police Detective Joseph Kennedy told WSVN. "A word to the wise to the pedestrians out there: Please pay attention when you're crossing. Most of our fatalities this week have been pedestrians."
Jones was the ninth pedestrian killed by a driver in Miami-Dade in the past week. Other fatal crashed occurred outside Jumbo's restaurant, and Marlins Park.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
