He's going from being part of one big three to backing up another. Ray Allen has decided to sign with the Miami Heat, according to Yahoo! Sports. The decision comes after Allen's two-day trip to Miami to meet with team execs. He'll be leaving the Boston Celtics, a team that has become perhaps Miami's biggest nemesis in the LeBron James era. Updated.

Heat owner Micky Arison tweeted the news.

Yahoo! Sports reports, "Multiple league sources confirmed to Yahoo! Sports that Allen has committed to joining the Heat."

No word on what kind of contract he got, or how long it's for, but we're sure that's forthcoming.

In other news, congratulations to WSVN! Twenty-three hours after you initially reported this news, you're now correct!

Update: Allen will sign a two-year, $6.3 million contract with the Heat, and rejected a two-year, $12 million contract to remain with the Celtics. However, he will not officially be able to sign with the team until July 11.

According to sources who spoke to Yahoo! Sports, Allen had began to feel unappreciated by Boston, and had a deteriorating relationship with their upcoming star Rajon Rondo.

"He felt he was getting respect that he hadn't gotten from [Celtics president] Danny [Ainge] and [coach] Doc [Rivers] anymore," their source says. "...The presentation was incredible."

Ray Allen is pretty smart.  He foresees the dollar signs and 3 more championships coming to Miami.  I think that since he spent so many years with Boston that maybe he should have stayed with them.  Coming to Miami- I'm surprised that the whole NBA isn't protesting.
