Well, Norman Braman's quest to unseat incumbent Miami-Dade County Commissioners was far from a smashing success, but one of his candidates will live to see another electoral day. Incumbent Bruno Barreiro barely missed the 50 percent threshold to avoid a runoff by just nine votes. So now he'll face off against Luis Garcia in November.

The County Elections board reviewed provisional ballots today, and officially certified that Barriero got just 49.95 percent of the vote.

Garcia, a former Miami Beach Fire Department chief who pulled out of a run for Congress as a Democrat to join Braman's band of candidates, got 33.05 percent of the vote.

The two will face off in a one-on-one election. Two other candidates were also in the race, Calixto Garcia and Carlos E. Munoz Fontanills.

None of Braman's other candidates made the runoffs on Tuesday, though two other Commission races will go back to the voters. Juan Zapata will face Manny Machado for the open seat in District 11. Incumbent Audrey Edmenson will face off non-Braman-backed challenger Keon Hardemon in District 3.
