Cities With Worst Drivers: Hialeah Fourth, Miami Ninth

traffic.jpg
Sometimes Miami shows up on city rankings in spots that sort of irk us. Other times our rankings are pleasantly surprising. And occasionally we get ranked in a spot that makes us think, Yeah, that is totally accurate.

So, we're not exactly surprised that not one, but two Miami-Dade cities sit in the top of Allstate Insurance's cities with the worst drivers list.

The insurance giant studied the insurance claim frequency of America's 200 biggest cities. The average American wrecks their care about once every ten years, but in some cities that frequency is a lot higher.

Hialeah came in fourth overall. Drivers there were 77.6 percent more likely to get into a car accident than the average American. Hialeah residents go about 5.9 years between car crashes.

The City of Miami came in ninth. Miami Drivers are 58.4 percent more likely to crash. Miamians go about 6.4 years between car crashes.

If you're hoping to avoid the worst drivers, do not to go to Washington D.C., which is apparently America's bad driving capital. Sioux Falls, South Dakota, meanwhile has America's best drivers.

I used to be a courier in Miami-Dade in 1993. I swear, there was an accident a day on all of the major expressways!

One thing that irritated me back then was that the people on the other side of the expressway slowed down to look at the accident. @#%& accident freaks!

I'm not sure what the insurance regulations are down there but the guilty parties in accidents should see their insurance rates rise whereas the innocent parties should not.

Also, you shouldn't get a driver's license anywhere in the US unless you know 20 words of English in order to understand the basic road signs.

Well if you caught that car chase down the Palmetto this past week, you'll know that there are some really great fuckin' drivers in Miami.

Dade County, excluding Coral Gables and Aventura, is the worst place to drive this side of the Milky Way. Cubans get blamed because they instituted Insurance Fraud in the nation, but what can you expect with this ChineseBike-MotorVehicle transition?!?! New York are not bad drivers, like the Germans in the Autobahn: THEY KNOW WHAT THEY DO. I used to bus people between New England and NYC, and let me tell you, even if City drivers graze you by a nanometer, they won't hit you. Miami drivers, especially Cubans?! They drive in a very irresponsible-pompous way, and god forbid they're County or City employees!!! The funny thing is that, they don't dare driving like that north of 216th street into Broward. Why you might ask? how many Cuban police officers are in Broward?! They can't claim the "Asere, somo Pinareño (Na'ue!)" there and it's a hefty fine.

Really? This is ranked on accidents meaning all the cubans in miami doing insurance jobs lmao but by far New york has the craziest drivers in the world. I went on a road trip and had to park my car on central park and walk. its insane, Taxicab drivers don't stop at stop signs and take all the lights if they can.

How did Hialeah become one of the top 200 biggest cities?

See I told you Hialeah was horrible. So bad it outranks the rest of Miami and 4 other places. All it takes during peak traffic is a few of the village idiots to get out there on the Palmetto and you have grid lock. It's actually those that poach and cheat others that have been waiting to get off the exit ramps. They drive slowly then cut across all the lanes. They know who they are, everyone else does too.

Used to own a business in Miami near the Immigration building. I met several people who had traveled the world and almost all of them said they had never seen such bad drivers as those in the Miami area.

@vikingwarbrides It is the 5th largest city in the state. Hialeah is a mid-sized American city comparable to cities like Orlando, Reno, Madison and Scottsdale. It's in the top 100 largest American cities with a population of over 200 thousand people.
