The vast majority of dogs are vile and disgusting beasts who will turn murderous at the turn of a dime. They are filthy and carry disease as well---most will even eat their own FECES or that of other animals. The old saying that their "mouths are cleaner than a human's" is a LIE and thgose that believe it are MORONS!

I am for the elmination of these horrible creatures, as well as most other dogs. They are pure evil.

What happen to you?? Had a bad experience with a dog or something?? A dog attacked you or a loved one?? Even if that was the case, there is no reason to hate dogs.

Although the mouth of a typical dog is full of bacteria, it's "species specific." So, if a dog were to lick a person, most of the germs wouldn't transfer. Point being... you're more likely to get a serious illness from kissing a person than kissing a dog. All dogs lick themselves to clean and groom. Some eat their own feces... It's a gross habit, but so what? Some humans have been known to eat or even throw their own feces. If you don't train a child to take a shower or brush their teeth, they won't even think about it. All you need to do is figure out how best to train them, as you try an figure out what works for your child so you can train them. I've seen cleaner dogs compared to a lot of humans I see.

Oh and that murderous comment... Do you need to be reminded that you are in the same species as those who would torture, kill, molest, rape, commit suicide, even put themselves out there, like prostitutes and pimps. There is also war, slaves, terrorist, human trafficking, child labor, child abuse, and even child soldiers! Non-human animals of any kind (that means dogs too) have way less complicated things to worry about.

In my opinion, humans are the worst. Unlike humans, other animals don't have a high sense of greed and curiosity... It's even worse because we have high developing and complex brains.

Congratulations Miami-Dade!! You did the right thing and voted to keep the ban. Facts are facts people. Pit bulls account for almost 50% of all dog related fatalaties. Over 90% of those are by "family pets". People who use the "it's not the dog, its the owner" are morons. The numbers don't lie. Put your sentimental feelings aside and get real. The numbers do not support your position.You can't go to the pet store and buy a lion no matter how good of a lion owner you are, the animal is dangerous.Rottweilers and German Shephards should be next.

The problem is if the pit bull bites it does more damage so you hear about it more often. These are facts. 12 years ago I had a german shepherd & doberman that I had for 16 years. There never was a single incident. Today I have a pit bull, 2 labs and a dachshund The pit bull is 5 years old and the dachshund is 2 years old. Never has been an incident. The two play together like mother & pup. I take them to the dog park she is wonderful with all the other dogs. Its monsters like Michael Vick thats the problem. 50 of the 52 dogs rescued from his dog fighting were rehabilitated and adopted out and 7 became therapy dogs. These are facts. Only two were not adopted and that was because of illnesses. You need to get your facts straight and start blaming the ones responsible & thats the monster behind the leash.

@pitbullssuck I have the facts behind me & I will not resort to your level of insults but you need to get the facts. People made them mean, they were not born that way. They fought in WW I & WW II. They were nicked named the nanny dog as well. It’s a proven fact that if they are in loving hands they have one of the best temperaments. If you put them in the hand of a monster or irresponsible ownership you will get a dog that bites. As for the family pit who bites the young child in the family. As much as I feel for that child again irresponsible ownership. Who in the right mind leaves a young child unsupervised with any dog. You do not know your facts, I am experienced with pit bulls, german shepherds, dobermans, rotties, labs and dachshunds to name a few. You need to get your facts and know what you are talking about. I have first hand experience. In fact I was walking my dogs when out of no where a loose golden retriever charged my pit bull who was on a leash. My pit did nothing as I was pulling her away as this golden kept growling at her and jumping at her. After a few moments the owner showed up to grabbed his dog and in his ignorance blamed it on his dog being a male and mine a female. My pit is spayed This is a perfect example that any breed can bite if taught aggression. The golden has one of the best reputations and was acting very aggressive. Again Irresponsible ownerships is the problem.

Chris, sorry man, even if 50% of those articles in that website get the dog wrong (and they don't), Pitbulls are still outrageously lethal and dangerous. You're fighting overwhelming data from about 40 years on this. A handful of mis-identifications doesn't transform this breed into a lapdog.

These dogs are great, but are dangerous if mistreated. I say vote the law down - since by all accounts it can't be enforced. Then license the dogs with special training and a visible tag that must be worn at all times. Otherwise, fine the crap out of the owners to fund a growing program of enforcement and perhaps insurance riders. Give neighbors 10% of the fine for reporting.

The problem is centered on pit bull owners. Several pit bull owners are bad news and should not be allowed to own any dogs. When thugs and criminals want a dog they go for what they perceive as the most powerful, threatening, and aggressive of dog breeds. The fact these dogs are illegal makes them more desirable to the criminal eliminate.

Some of these arguments are outlandish. Why bother? I hope the ban gets revoked, but I also hope that people understand the responsibility they have when deciding to own a dog. They owe it to their dog and people to make sure that dog is healthy and well-behaved. People fail to see that being a responsible dog owner is what helps keep dogs out of shelters and streets. Dogs are pack animals and they NEED a leader, unfortunately many dog owners don't see that and fail to be that for their dogs.

I say keep the ban. If a person can not remain civil on Facebook without resorting to profanity and name calling, then how can we expect that same person to responsibly maintain a dangerous animal such as a pit bull? If you ask any pit bull lovers about vicious dog attacks on children, they resort to blaming the child!
