RNC Visitor Booted For Throwing Nuts At Black Camerawoman, Saying "This Is How We Feed Animals"

After GOP Party Chairman Reince Priebus got into a heated shouting match on Monday with Chris Matthews over accusations that his party plays the "race card" against Obama, Republicans crowed that the clip showed the liberal media in its worst kind of attack mode. Race? We've never even heard of race!

That argument's going to be a little tougher this morning, as CNN confirms an RNC attendee was kicked out last night for abusing a black camerawoman, apparently by throwing nuts at her and yelling, "This is how we feed animals."

The news first broke via Current TV reporter David Shuster's Twitter feed:

A CNN spokesman later confirmed the general details to Talking Points Memo, telling the site that "CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment."

Look, loonies infiltrate both parties and it's not as if the Republicans can erect a blatant racist detection system at the Forum's doorway (though if they could, Steve King may have to stay back in Iowa.)

The problem for the GOP is that these kind of stories reinforce the same narrative that Matthews hammered Priebus over on Monday: That by letting your presidential nominee make birther jokes and by pushing early voting and voter ID laws aimed explicitly at depressing the black turnout, the party is cow-towing to voters exactly like the creep booted from the convention last night.

Paul Ryan Profile - Paul Ryan's votes created $6.8 trillion in deficits under Bush Politics Paul Ryan’s votes created $6.8 trillion in deficits under Bush Ryan may be, as he has said himself, “ashamed of his Bush years,” but this is not the narrative on the campaign trail. There is hardly a whisper about how Ryan helped the Bush administration run up deficits. He seems to have wholeheartedly followed Dick Cheney’s witticism “deficits don’t matter.” If one’s economic philosophy is to cut taxes, how the hell did Ryan expect to pay for any of his $6.8 trillion in deficits? One is left to suppose that under Ryan’s plan the deficit would shrink when GDP growth (triggered by tax cuts) would cause tax revenue to spill into the Treasury, or there would be a full-on assault launched on major social programs. Instead, Ryan and the GOP-at-large are claiming he and Romney are out to save Medicare by reforming it. They simultaneously want to cut Medicare but dishonestly claim Obama is “stealing” from Medicare to pay for Obamacare. Social Security cuts don’t even seem to be on the table, either.

@Alex, I'm not spinning anything. You're reaching big time and taking this out of context. What source is that anyway?? They even admitted it in your article despite the desperate need to find a racist undertone: "[Paul supporters] were protesting a decision by RNC officials not to seat members of the Maine delegation." Get a grip already.

Sure.  Squeal about one A-Hole but ignore the real racism and Sexism that is going on.

NBC's refusal to show anyone speaking at the Convention who wasn't White.

Chuck Todd's Race Baiting.

Yahoo News Chief Racists Accusations.

Leftist Twitter posters using the #negrospotting at the #RNC hashtags.

Hypocritcal Left wingers with no sense of Irony (Like You ) who posted Wikipedia entries calls Mia Love ‘dirty, worthless whore’ and ‘House Nigger’

So you see.  One probably drunk jerk's actions pales in comparison to the real hatred, racism and misogyny that is going on.

Well to be fair, I don't feed animals by throwing food like substances at them; I put it in a bowl... "animals" I think has several contexts. When I'm in a crowded space, rather space crowded with people, like a mall, I have said, "It's a zoo." I guess I need to watch those sweeping generalizations. Also, the author of the article, when using "Black" as an ethnic identifier, did not treat it as a proper noun and capitalize it... I guess it's much easier for me to just say that the author and editor (defacto, the paper - general improper form notwithstanding) is racist, than it is to say it was a typo and there is an obvious lack of amateur writing style throughout; it's a published blog, which is like saying crayon drawings on a refrigerator are published works of art... @ Eugene Buck - they weren't explicitly racist either. The point is, throwing something at someone isn't racist. In fact, the only reason anyone thought to make the action about race is because they guy throwing this was white, at a non-white. Construing in a way that is racist, is racist... ...and people question why I don't read or watch American mass media...or their unvetted parrots.

I guess Joe Bidens comments were not racist. This is the bullshit double standard with you democrats. It's only racist if the GOP or anyone related to it does it. But if a democrat, and vice president at that says it, its ok, he miss spoke. Bunch of hypocrites. Now dance puppets!

I think the best thing we can all do is eat the bullshit the media feeds us and talk about everything but what actually effects us and what matters. When you don't have a record to run on, thats what you do.

So the Republicans are being labeled a racist just by one persons actions? Then I guess it's safe to say the Dems are nothing but a bunch of Homo Loving Commies

@Giovanni so this is acceptable behavior because, even though he called her an animal and threw stuff at her, the things he threw wasn't implicitly racist?

You cant expect the GOP to control all their crazies. I mean, they are so crazy they get racism wrong. Peanuts? are you trying to say she is an elephant? Anyway, my advice? Ignore this story. Vote during early voting so that others dont have to deal with long lines on election day. During early voting it is really easy to vote during your lunch hour. Bring some coworkers vote, go back to lunch and blamo...done. then after you vote make sure everybody else votes. That's it. everything else is noise. What matters is the actual votes on election day. BTW this goes to both parties and yes the democrats have crazies of their own, they dont tend to be racist, but they have crazies nonetheless. So everybody, what are we doing? voting early!
