Miami Northwestern Band Members Appeared in Raunchy Video With Lil' Wayne and a Porn Star
Six drummers from the school's band appear in the video in their uniforms, and the Miami Herald confirms that they are current high school kids.
The student don't appear in the same shots as some of the raunchier scenes in the video, but do appear drumming behind the rappers in certain scenes, and in a few cut-away shots.
Miami-Dade School officials were led to believe that the video would be innocent fun. The school and band director signed off on the involvement without knowing that the rest of the video would feature strippers.
"It's just outrageous to think you have an individual take advantage of a school and students for a video," Northwestern Principal Wallace Aristide told the Miami Herald. "They're playing their instruments and thinking it's something innocent, wearing our uniforms, only later to find out they edited the video with racy content."
Uh, apparently no one bothered to do their research.
Have these people even seen a Juicy J, Lil Wayne of 2 Chainz video before?
Did they not figure out that the "bandz" making her dance are not marching bandz, but rather a slang term for $1,000?
The song premiered back in May. The remix featured in the video came out in June, and was described by The Fader as a "bleary strip club track" at the time. Anyone know how to Google?<
Did they not listen to the lyrics that include references to King of Diamonds, drugs, "ratchet pussy," and "two hoes on my fucking pole?"
Come on, seriously.
School Board Member Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall tells the Herald that the video producers should be held "accountable and responsible," instead of the people connected to the school who apparently decided to allow this in the first place.
Which reminds us of the last time Miami Northwestern bands members appeared in uniform in a rap music video. It was for Trick Daddy and Trina's 305 classic "Shut Up," and it was, well, at least less raunchy than the "Bandz" video and was shot at the Orange Bowl and not a warehouse made to look like a strip club.
