Hugo Chavez: "I Would Vote For Obama"

baldchavez.jpg
While Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is just days away from what might be the toughest election of his career, he's decided to lend some very much unwelcome support to another presidential campaign.

Yes, the controversial Venezuelan leader has all but officially endorsed Barack Obama. Uh, well, at least Barack isn't not getting Fidel Castro's support yet.

"In the point of view of his politics, if I were voting, I would vote for Obama," Chavez told a state-owned TV station. "And I believe that if Obama was from Caracas, he would vote for Chavez, I am positive."

Chavez went on to call Obama a "good guy," which is a lot better than when he called George W. Bush a "devil" and a "drunk."

Chavez had previously compared Obama to John F. Kennedy and called him "highly intelligent" shortly after his election in 2008, so it's not exactly a new line of thought for Chavez. Obama himself spoke about Chavez in July saying, "Overall my sense is that what Mr. Chavez has done over the last several years has not had a serious national security impact on us."

"My main concern when it comes to Venezuela is having the Venezuelan people have a voice in their affairs," he continued. "And that you end up ultimately having fair and free elections, which we don't always see."

Venezuelans will go to the polls on October 7, but it may not be shaping up to be the most fair and free of elections -- especially for citizens who lived here in Miami. Chavez closed the Miami consulate earlier this year, and now all Venezuelans who live in Florida will have to travel to another consulate, the nearest of which is in New Orleans, to cast a ballot.

pablo, saying socialism is communism is like saying christianity is evangelism or that animals are dogs.

Of course, I'd be so much easier for him to try to unite his country against a foreign threat such as war-mongering, imperialistic Romney. Good try, failed.

the only reason you cuban rednecks hate Obama is because he cut off(or reduced) the socialist programs and institutions, that provide you fucks with free money, healthcare and welfare. dont believe me? go to hialeah or westchester and see what he's done to your "socialist" programs there. get you facts straight.  fuckin rednecks

No, Canada is not a socialist country. You had to google that didn't you? It has socialist needed services while it has a capitalistic economic system. Christopher, at least you did some research. Don't ask for something that can easily be answered online. Communism and fascism are the two extremes on the political spectrum. Communism is as far left, and fascism is as far right as possible. Both communism and fascism allow for collectivization of property under the state. Extreme communist though holds that private property does not exist. Extreme fascist that (Alfredo Rocco) private property exists, but can be seized by the state whenever it is deemed necessary. Extremist behavior on both sides make communism and fascism somewhat common. Both involve hyper nationalism (fascists support their state, communist identify with a "worker" nation), a racial or socially discriminatory element, and powerful political doctrines which are quasi-religious in tone. Remember, the most ardent Nazi's in East Germany became some of the most die hard communists. They are not that different. Juan, till you prove they are baseless you warrant nothing. "All over the place" que come bola. Socialism was developed, in large part, to subvert revolutionary and communist behavior during the 1880s-1920s. It doesn't unnecessarily mean anything beyond the fact that the state plays a larger role in people's private lives and welfare programs are considered a normal part of life rather than being a crutch.

Now think about this, is Canada a communist country? When you answer that you will realize who needs to be re-educated.

Pablo, you are all over the map with your baseless arguments. The Nazis were RIGHT WINGERS (your kind of people) Hitler's detested the Communists and his dream was to destroy both the Soviet Union and all the Jews in that country and Eastern Europe. He equated Jews to Communism.

Pablo I won't stoop to you level of education but can you even name a socialist country?

You lack intelligence, you didn't reiterate Socialism being communism. Are you even going to try? The videos are cutouts from different media outlets that specifically show us how we are moving towards a socialist democracy like other countries have in the past. Corrupt the youth and you have pencil dicks like you worshiping a man and bidding his will on your neighbors like Cuba, Russian, Hungary, etc. You probably didn't even watch them. Compare what you saw with videos from Hitlers' Youth. I know you don't know what that is, because again, you only fool yourself when you make yourself believe you're smart or wise in FB. It's funny how most people who call themselves Americans don't know that out Police, Firemen, Military, roads, traffic lights, etc are actually all socialist institutions.

I am writing as an American who has been living in Venezuela for the past 6 years. Before I get started, let me start off by letting you know, Capriles is going to win. Of that, there is no doubt. Chavez wants the American People to vote for Romney. He knows that him endorsing Obama is the "kiss of death" and that it will save him. It's to late however, the Venezuelan people have had enough. They cannot take it any more, and they are no longer afraid of Chavez's thugs. The day before yesterday 3 people were killed in Barinitas. It has only made the Venezuelans more resiliant, and more angry. Yesterday the crowd in Caracas was like never seen in the history of Venezuela before. You can feel the electricity in the air. People want him gone now!!! They are tired of the Violence. Everyone, and I mean everyone knows somebody who has been murdered. Most are members of their own family. My wife has three family members who have been murdered. Two brothers, and one nephew. And everyone knows somebody who has been robbed at gunpoint. This includes myself, where I had a gun put to my head, and the head of my daughter. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY!!!! The people are sick and tired of it. I cannot overemphasize the enthusiasm of the oppisition. Capriles has energized the country like it hasn't been in many years. Sadly the Western media has not been reporting accuratley. I can understand it however. If you haven't lived here, you have no idea what life is like here. The media I assume don't have the resources to put someone on the ground to actually feel what the people feel. Believe me, though, Capriles is going to win. The Venezuelan people know this, and can feel it in their bones. Even Chavez knows it. What I am not sure of, is wheather Chavez's thugs will accept the outcome of the election. There is a real possiblity that many lives will be lost. Chavez has armed "militias" that are the most radical of the radical. Google "La piedrita venezuela" and you'll see some of them. The people will not stop the vote, however. They are no longer afraid. Only one week left. Hopefully, when Capriles wins, the army will come out, and publicy back the new President-Elect. That would help tremendously. Either way, keep your eyes open. Looks at the social media (facebook). Look at the pages CHAVEZLACAGANDA (AHORA LA CAGA EN TWITTER), 1 2 3 CHAVEZZ TAZ PONCHAOO!!!, and Henrique Capriles Radonski, if you read spanish. TONS of good stuff there. Although the media in Venezuela is by no means open, chavez has no control over the internet (yet). Chavez and his thugs can no longer stop the tidal wave of support Capriles has. Don't forget about Venezuela. A people who absolutely love everything American, and who are truly a beautiful, and friendly people. Hay un Camino!!!! Capriles va ser Presidente!!!!
