There are few descriptors more woebegone than "44-year-old Sarasota grandma," and yet this tale is sadder than that even suggests.

Michelle Sears, the 44-year-old Sarasota grandmother in question, was stopped on Monday by a local sheriff's deputy for driving with a suspended license. Sears' six-year-old granddaugther was in the the passenger's seat.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, when asked if she had anything illegal in the car Sears fessed up to having a bevy of prescription pills on her, including oxycodone, clonazepam, and alprazolam. Sears kept receiving text messages, and explained to the deputy that she was just on her way to meet people to sell them the oxy.

When asked whether or not she thought it was OK to take her granddaughter to a drug deal, Sears reasoned that it probably wasn't right but wouldn't be dangerous "unless someone pulled a gun, I guess."

Sears, who lists her profession as a pool cleaner, was arrested on charges of opium possession with intent to sell, narcotic possession, child endangerment, and driving with a suspended license.
