Hurricanes Basketball Upsets #13 Michigan State 67-59
But the Hurricanes upset 13th ranked Michigan State last night in Coral Gables.
Senior Trey McKinney Jones put up a career-record 18 points last night, and led the 'Canes to a 67-59 win. Shane Larkin and Durand Scott also put up 15 points a piece.
Defensively, the 'Canes kept the Spartans to season low 49 points, and the team absolutely dominated in the second half 40-28.
Students go so excited they ran onto the court and hoisted Sebastian the Ibis and a player up on their shoulder, according to the AP. They even started chanted "ACC" because, well, you don't get to yell that too much during football season.
Seems like the 'Canes have learned a lot since their loss to FGCU. The Canes came into the season with heightened expectation. No, we're not talking championship expectation, but they were picked to finish 4th in the ACC by coaches, and 5th by the media. If they meet those expectations, that should be good enough to get them an NCAA tourney invite.
