Mark Buehrle's Pit Bull Not Welcome in Toronto Either
Shortly after finding out he and half the rest of the Marlins were being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, he found out that not only was Slater not allowed in Toronto, but the entire province of Ontario. Sometimes, life is a bitch.
Almost as soon as he arrived in Miami, Buehrle started openly talking about putting an end to the ban, and became something of the celebrity face of pit bull backers.
Of course, the pit bull ban went to a vote earlier this year, and Miamians voted overwhelmingly to keep it in place.
The situation for Buehrle and Slater isn't much better in Toronto. The province of Ontario has had a pit bull ban in place since 2005.
Buehrle once again is speaking out against pit bull bans. From The National Post:
"I think it's a discriminatory law. Just because of the way a dog looks, I don't think that dog should be banned from someplace," said Buehrle, a key piece in the 12-player trade that also brought pitcher Josh Johnson and star shortstop Jose Reyes to the Jays.Upstate New York is right across a lake from Toronto. So maybe that's an option, but then we realized we don't really care about Mark Buehrle and his stupid dog, because maybe, just maybe if he hadn't played like shit during his time in Miami no one would be in this position to start with.
"I was kind of joking around with my wife, saying that they probably shouldn't let me in the country [if] they don't let my dog in because my dog is so loving and so awesome."
