Miami-Dade's Local Democratic Party Sucks

Uncle Luke, the man whose booty-shaking madness made the U.S. Supreme Court stand up for free speech, gets as nasty as he wants to be for Miami New Times. This week, Luke goes after Miami Democrats for supporting losers in local elections.

Miami-Dade Democrats are feeling mighty good about President Barack Obama getting reelected and propelling Joe Garcia to Congress. But when it comes local races, the party keeps supporting the same politicians who don't do anything for the African-American community.

They don't want to challenge their friends like Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez and County Commissioner Audrey Edmonson, to name just two. Now we have to put up with four more years of bullshit from county government.

When you start following these local races, you quickly realize that party affiliations don't mean squat. It's all about the money and who is going to get it. That's why we have African-American commissioners who don't have a plan to stop the violence, create jobs, and make places like Overtown and Liberty City beautiful places to live.

Instead you have Edmonson giving away land and sweetheart deals to affordable housing developer the Carlisle Group so they can build big apartment buildings in the middle of neighborhoods with single family homes.
