John McAfee, Software Guru and Suspected Murderer, Is Coming to Miami

It seems that all bizarre news stories somehow wind up finding their way to Florida.

The saga of John McAfee, the anti-virus software tycoon who may or may not have murdered his neighbor in Belize, is following that natural trajectory now that he's been released by Guatemalan police and soon will be arriving in Miami.

McAfee has been living in Belize for the past few years, and when his neighbor, American expatriate Gregory Viant Faull, turned up dead with a gunshot wound, Belize officials fingered McAfee as a person of interest. McAfee then fled, but made a mistake when he agreed to meet with journalists from Vice magazine.

The mag posted a picture of McAfee on Twitter, but accidentally (at least they claim) gave up his location by forgetting to remove the geolocation metadata encoded in the picture file. Turns out he was in Guatemala, and he was then arrested for entering the country illegally. The country will now deport him back to America.

"I'm being expelled, I will have to leave today," he told Bloomberg News. "I'll be leaving on the 3:40 flight for Miami on American Airlines, and I have no choice in the matter, however, I'm perfectly happy with the decision."

No word on what will happen to him when he arrives in Miami. McAfee is still wanted by Belize police for questioning in the murder.

It wouldn't be a real drama without a 'South Florida' connection..
