What the what? LeBron James, perhaps the most recognizable athlete on the planet, won his first NBA championship after two years of non-stop media and public scrutiny. But, America didn't think it was that big of a deal. According to a new Marist poll of sports fans, the Heat's win was only the fourth best championship of the year.

Yes, the Heat's win came in fourth behind the New York Giants' Super Bowl win, the San Francisco Giants' World Series Win, and the Alabama Crimson Tide's BSC win. Only 13 percent picked the Heat's win as the best.

There are some interesting demographic differences. Only 7 percent of white folk picked the Heat's win as the best of the year. While 23 percent of non-white sports fans picked it as the best.

Most tellingly, the win was also viewed as the best sports championship by those between 18 and 29. Twenty-seven percent in that age group picked it as the best, even more than the 24 percent that picked the Super Bowl win.

LeBron James was picked second as the player with the biggest impact on his sport, with 24 percent of all sports fans agreeing. He was only behind Peyton Manning at 35 percent.
