Real Housewife Alexia Echevarria and Her Husband Herman Owe Nearly $100K in Taxes

Categories: The Z List
Original Real Housewives of Miami cast member Alexia Echevarria, the self proclaimed "Cuban Barbie," and her Hialeah powerbroker husband Herman have had a whirlwind year that has now been capped off by having a lien placed on their house for failing to pay nearly $100,000 in back taxes from 2009.

According to Huffington Post Miami, the pair were informed that they owe $94,078.44 on their taxbill from 2009. The couple were informed of the debt back in May, but have yet to pay up. So now the IRS has slapped a lien on their Miami Beach home. The debt predates Mrs. Echevarria's turn on Bravo's semi-hit.

It's been a bizarre year for the high profile couple.

Mrs. Echevarria opted out of reprising her role as a regular on the Miami Housewives second season as her youngest son was involved in a traumatic car accident last August. She however did make a few cameos on the show's comeback season.

Meanwhile, her oldest son, Peter Rosello (both kids are Herman's step-children) was arrested for "nut-punching" a homeless man near Lincoln Road on Miami Beach and posting a video of the attack on YouTube.

Mr. Echevarria is a longtime Hialeah powerbroker and a former advisor to ex-Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas. His support of current Miami-Dade mayor Carlos Gimenez may have ensured that he cruised to an easy reelection this year. He donated $17,5000 to Gimenez and related PACs this year, but may have been better off paying that money to the IRS.
