Wisconsin Reportedly Interested in Hurricanes Coach Al Golden

Al Golden has only compiled a 13-11 record as head coach of the Miami Hurricanes, but he's done so under difficult circumstances. His efforts have caught the eye of other schools' Athletic Directors, and he's been rumored as a possible candidate for recent vacancies at Boston College and Tennessee. Now, he's apparently on the radar of the University of Wisconsin as they try to replace the recently departed Bret Bielema.

"Source tells me Chris Peterson, Darrell Bevell, Mel Tucker and Al Golden are all "legit candidates" for the #Badgers job. Still early," Tweeted CBS Sports reporter Adam Hoge on Friday.

Though other reports have put Golden as a possibility, the list of potential Wisconsin candidates is still pretty long at this point.

The man in charge of the search is Wisconsin's AD, Barry Alvarez. He's the school's former head football coach, and was hired when current UM President Donna Shalala was chancellor of Wisconsin. The two are said to have remained close friends, so there'd defiantly be a bit of a backstabbing factor here if Alvarez was targeting Golden. (In another interesting side note, Alvarez's family lost about $1 million in the Nevin Shapiro Ponzi scheme).

Of course, Golden's contract lasts until 2020, and he seems to be in it for the long run.

Just weeks ago he reconfirmed his commitment to the 'Canes.

"I think we're here for the right reasons, which is why you have a tendency to dig in and fight as opposed to flight," he told the Associated Press.
