FAU Professor Thinks Sandy Hook Massacre May Have Been a Media Conspiracy

Categories: Education
via FAU
James Tracy
Up at Florida Atlantic University, communications professor James Tracy has been regaling students for a decade with his thoughts on 9-11, the Oklahoma City bombing and the Kennedy assassination. He's basically that uncle who spends all week reading Infowars so he can corner you at Thanksgiving to tell you how the CIA really killed JFK.

Tracy's conspiracy theories have gone national this week, though, as he's tackled the Sandy Hook massacre. The tenured professor wonders whether Adam Lanza's murder of 26 kids and adults was actually just an elaborately staged exercise by Obama's government -- or really, if it ever happened at all!

Tracy has been writing about the massacre for weeks on his site, memoryholeblog.com, but the posts have gone viral after the Sun Sentinel picked them up for a story yesterday.

His writing is lengthy, complex, and uh, lennnngthy, but the Sun-Sentinel picks up on some highlights. After constructing a detailed timeline, he writes:
"While it sounds like an outrageous claim, one is left to inquire whether the Sandy Hook shooting ever took place -- at least in the way law enforcement authorities and the nation's news media have described."
His basic thesis is that witness reports, early TV news coverage and other sources suggest that multiple shooters were actually arrested for the killing spree, but then police and patsy reporters conspired to pin the whole thing on Lanza.
Journalists capable of exercising a modest degree of autonomy and personal insight would have clearly recognized such leads, thereby extending them to a more rigorous examination of law enforcement spokespersons and the broader Newtown community. Instead, the news media once again wholly abdicated any such responsibility to serve the public by unquestioningly parroting official pronouncements and carefully instructing their audiences on exactly how to interpret the event.
So what really happened in Sandy Hook? Tracy wonders if the whole thing wasn't an elaborately staged event.

"Was this to a certain degree constructed?" he asks the Sun Sentinel. "Was this a drill?"

Don't worry, though, Tracy isn't saying for sure that all those kids didn't die, he's just here to ask questions.

"Something most likely took place," he said. "One is left with the impression that a real tragedy took place ... Overall, I'm saying the public needs more information to assess what took place. We don't have that. And when the media and the public don't have that, various sorts of ideas can arise."

If what this professor were saying were so ridiculous, there would not be an effort to discredit him personally and malign his standing and integrity so that more citizens come to dismiss him as an idiot, a loon or a radical 'conspiracy theorist'. The fear that the hidden power cabal in America have is  that many citizens across socio-demographic lines may actually share his view. Then what? FOR THE RECORD - I SUPPORT THE SECOND AMENDMENT: I do NOT support the movement to eliminate the Second Amendment and using tragedies like the one in Newtown, CT or Aurora, Colorado to foster a narrative that American Citizens must disarm themselves or be forcibly disarmed in order to insure our joint and mutual security. Sorry, I think our forefathers were a bit smarter than the current cast of characters, talking heads and social media-ites calling for Americans to disarm and yes I do believe that the men who signed the Constitution were a tad brighter or forward thinking than Michael Moore. When a crime is committed shouldn't what we do first is focus like a laser beam on examining ALL THE EVIDENCE and refrain from drawing conclusions until we get to the actual TRUTH? Before the evidence was in, and in the face of contradictory evidence coming out of Newtown, Connecticut, the campaign to disable the Second Amendment was launched. Oh yeah and I am a Registered Democrat, not a member of the NRA and have no desire to buy a gun, a new watch or a pair of shoes maybe, a gun not really. It is the principle of the matter. The professor is not crazy. He is a citizen who sees things the way an alarming number of Americans actually do. Hence the effort to undermine his stature in the eyes of the public.

Birthers...Truthers...Idiots abound in  the good ol U.S.A

I agree with the professor!   This perfectly cleaned up tragedy almost seemed to be staged.  I am not saying the people didn't die, I just don't think it happened the way it has been reported.  The whole REPORTING or lack thereof has been interesting to me.  Where are the missing families who are talking on camera about their grief?  Where are the you tube videos from cell phones that we see for just about every tragedy that happens in the US?  Where are the survivor accounts from the adult victims at least, I can understand why the kids haven't spoken out.  Somthing definitely stinks about the whole thing!

You do have freedom of speech in America, don't you ?  It is not a crime to think something other than what the media command us to think, is it ?  Or are we labelled insane if we think something we are not told to think ?

When the typical person says "of course it happened" what proof do THEY have?? There's more clues that point towards a hoax than there are those that point to an actual shooting (no crime scene pictures, bodies, surveillance footage, etc). And I know ppl will say "who wants to see that??", someone who wants the truth is who wants to see that. Major news outlets like Fox News and CNN have stated they have the right to tell us what they want, their version of the news, so why trust them so blindly? Ppl need to take 5 minutes to research for themselves if they have any self respect or value over humanity rather than find everything we say ridiculous like some snide spoiled brat

While I can agree with the idea thing happen in government the general public will not and probably should not know, the idea that the government would stage a shooting is ludicrous and if one were so inclined to investigate such an unlikely scenario, I would perform a thorough and full proof investigation before throwing out such accusations. Really there's more concrete really things that require time and effort then conspiracy theories and elaborate hoaxes.

@Carlos Hernandez, the man may very well be the smartest man in the universe. But I'd listen more if instead of insulting the memories of those who died he'd come up with some answers. It's neither bold nor thinking out of the box to ask a question. It is however weak and cowardly to go into a topic like this without anything but supposition and speculation and then have the temerity to say "I'm just raising questions". If there were an ounce of character, integrity or a spine he'd try for proof and resolutions

I agree with him. I think it's sad that people think of someone that doesn't take what is fed to them by the media and actually thinks for themselves as a "moron."

I was a student of Prof. Tracy's and the man is extremely intelligent and quite sane. You and your daughter should probably take his class. You might actually learn something. I applaud his courage to raise the questions that most of us don't have the spine to ask. I guess the masses are just content with be spoon fed the "official" story.

@NotBrainWashed I'm all for freedom of speech.  But what happened to respect for the parents who lost their children?  Very arrogant of this "academic" to choose this venue to get attention.

@D.f. Basora my hat is off to you......very well said!  Weak, cowardly, disrespectful and narcissistic is what this so called professor is....

responsible222
responsible222

@Gisela Calero A "moron" because it is totally disrespectful to the familes of these little angels that were murdered.  As a CT resident who has attended funerals....this is very real and a horrible way for this supposedly intelligent man to try to make a statement about the media.  He needs to think of someone else besides himself.

responsible222
responsible222

@Carlos A. Hernandez Carlos, extremely intelligent to the point of insanity?  Come to CT and see for yourself.  I'm sorry that you were brain washed in his class and as an academic, I will never recommend your school.....not if those are the types of professors they are tenuring! To make a point about murdered children is disrespectful AND insane.

responsible222

@Doris Laurence   As an academic in CT who often refers students to colleges, I so agree with you!!!  They will never again receive my endorsement....not if this narcissist is who they keep on their tenured staff.

Honest families will want to know exactly what happened (and the cover-up provides very little), the more public the better.  Hushing up facts on the basis of "hurting" the family is the self-censorship of the enslaved.

@responsible222 @NotBrainWashed

Ok, so you believe the official story. You probably believe in the Twin Towers were demolished perfectly by Al Qaeda; that the economy is not being controlled by foreign powers 9of which Obama is a henchman); and the Tooth Fairy.

Let me guess, people should check in with you before they post articles, right, keeping the Protocols in mind.

This is a newspaper.  Some reporter has deemed the interview with the prof news-worthy.  The public have a right to know (which is massively eroded in the US).  There are many people (and websites) saying the same thing.  If murderer and rapists do not want their crimes published, or profs do not want their articles published, they should not commit the crimes or grant the interview.  If families are squeamish, they should not read the newspaper, until they are over their mourning and able to handle facts.
