Man Struck By Falling Bullet on New Year's Eve
Despite almost embarrassing amounts of public outreach to remind Miamians not to shoot their guns off into the air every time they see fireworks, a man was struck by a falling bullet on New Year's Eve.
According to CBS Miami, the incident occurred on Northwest 25th Avenue and Northwest 32nd Street. The victim was struck by a falling bullet, but luckily avoided major tragedy. He was merely grazed in the shoulder.
"We had a lot of friends and family in my yard and fireworks were being fired off," Randy Ruiz, the homeowner who was hosting the party the victim was attending, told the station. "Just after midnight, one of the guests complained of blood on his shirt. So we quickly ran over to see what was going on and saw there was blood on his left arm."
There is another unconfirmed report of a stray bullet hitting a man near Northwest Second Avenue and 71st Street.
Luckily, unlike in year's past, it appears no one was seriously injured and no children were involved.
But, you guys, seriously: STOP FIRING YOUR GUNS INTO THE AIR ON NEW YEAR'S EVE AND THE FOURTH OF JULY. JEEZ.
