Miami Hurricanes Will Have Most Alumni Playing In NFL Conference Championship Games This Weekend

In yet another bittersweet reminder that despite not having much success lately on the college level, the Miami Hurricanes are still a major NFL pipeline, it turns out that more former 'Canes will playing in the AFC and NFC championship games this weekend than any other school. Which shouldn't be too much of a surprise as the 'Canes also have the most alum selected to this year's Pro Bowl.

Twelve former Hurricanes are on the rosters of the team's still in the hunt for a Super Bowl championship:

P Matt Bosher, OL Harland Gunn, DL Micanor Regis (Atlanta); LB Tavares Gooden, RB Frank Gore (San Francisco); DL Vince Wilfork, DL Marcus Forston (New England); LB Ray Lewis, OL Bryant McKinnie, RB Damien Berry, WR Tommy Streeter, S Ed Reed (Baltimore).

That's a good mix of players from the 'Canes' legendary 2001 glory days, and more recent grads.

No other school even comes close to having as much as a mark this weekend. Oregon and Florida are tied for second place with seven each.

So, if you're a Hurricanes fan and aren't sure who to root for this weekend, than the obvious answer is to root for the Hawks and Ravens to advance to a Super Bowl battle of the birds with Ray Lewis and his Ravens eventually taking home the trophy.
