Poll: Charlie Crist Has 14-Point Lead Over Rick Scott in Gov. Race

If recent Democrat convert Charlie Crist decides to run for governor, as he's widely rumored to do, he'd wipe the floor with incumbent Republican Rick Scott 53 percent to 49 percent. Though, several other possible Democratic candidates also beat Scott in head-to-head match-ups, Crist leads Scott by the widest margin.

The new numbers come from Public Policy Polling.

Crist's name recognition is about as high as you can get in Florida, with only 8 percent of voters polls remained undecided when choosing between these two.

Alex Sink leads Scott 47 to 40 percent, with 14 percent undecided.

Congresswoman and current DNC chief Debbie Wasserman Schultz leads Scott by a narrow 44-42 margin, with 14 percent undecided. However, there's little indication that she's interested in running.

Lesser known Democrats also do well against Scott.

Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio leads 43-39, with 19 percent undecided.

Scott was also placed in hypothetical match ups with State Senator Nan Rich and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dwyer. Scott tops both by a few points, but that's likely because both are relatively unknown and in both cases more than 20 percent of voters were undecided.

The poll however did not ask about a Democratic primary. Though, favorability ratings can give a hint of how that might play out.

Seventy percent of Democrats have a favorable opinion of Charlie Crist. (Though, interestingly for a moderate, only 38 percent of Independents view Crist favorably, compared to 44 percent who view him unfavorably.)

Fifty-one percent of Dems say they view Sink favorably, but 39 percent have no opinion.
