Pro-Rick Scott Satanists Are Actually Part of a Mockumentary

So remember when we pointed you to a press release touting members of a Satanic church rallying for Gov. Rick Scott and wondered if it was a real or some high level trolling? Turns out it was the later. Florida's Satanic Temple is only slightly less real than Manti Te'o's girlfriend.

The group was supposedly rallying for Scott for signing a bill that sort of, kind of allowed prayer in public schools.

"The Satanic Temple embraces the free expression of religion, and Satanists are happy to show their support of Rick Scott who -- particularly with SB 98 -- has reaffirmed our American freedom to practice our faith openly, allowing our Satanic children the freedom to pray in school," said the group's Neil Bricke in a statement.

Turns out it was a stunt for a mockumentary.

Naked Politics discovered that the group's supposed spokesman was actually a casting director. A casting notice for a film called "The Satanic Temple" was discovered:

"We are seeking people from all walks of life, goths, grandparents, soccer moms, etc to be the followers of a charismatic yet down to earth Satanic cult leader," the post stated. "The shoot will be on January 25th in downtown Tallahassee. Actors will be required to wear tasteful Satanic garb."

The casting call said the movie was a mockumentary about the "nicest Satanic Cult in the world." It was seeking actors for eight speaking roles "to play minions" and 10 featured extras. (The positions have since been filled).

The nicest Satanic Cult in the world? It's ironic now that we concluded, "You know, aside from their support of Rick Scott, these Satanists don't sound too bad."
