Satanists To Rally in Favor of Rick Scott

A group of people who usually worship the Dark Lord of Hell will convene latter this month lend their support to the Dark Lord of Tallahassee.

Yes, members of the Florida-based Satanic Temple will gather on the steps of the Governor's office on January 25 to rally in favor of Florida Governor Rick Scott.

This is either an unintended consequence of Scott's particular interpretation of the separation of Church and State, or political trolling at its highest.

See, last year Rick Scott signed a bill into law that would allow local school boards to authorize policies that would let students lead "inspirational messages" at school events, even if those messages had a religious bent.

Supporters meant it as a way to insert Christian prayer back into school, but the vague way it was written leaves a lot of room for unintended consequences.

For examples, The Satanic Temple is now thrilled that Satanist children will be able to praise the Devil in school.

"The Satanic Temple embraces the free expression of religion, and Satanists are happy to show their support of Rick Scott who -- particularly with SB 98 -- has reaffirmed our American freedom to practice our faith openly, allowing our Satanic children the freedom to pray in school," said the group's Neil Bricke in a statement.

The release also praises Scott's "unwavering fortitude and progressive resolve in his defense of religious liberty."

Of course, no one is really sure how legit The Satanic Temple is. Politicker talked to a spokesman for the group who refused to divulge how large their membership is, and points out that the church was only founded last year. Though, the spokesman states that the group doesn't necessarily support Scott's other policies.

This could be some A-level trolling, but the group does have an actual website.

"The mission of The Satanic Temple is to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people. In addition, we embrace practical common sense," reads their mission statement. "The King of Hell wants all of us to be guided by our conscience and to undertake noble pursuits guided by compassion and wisdom. We believe that this is the hope of all mankind and the highest aspiration of humanity. May we all be consumed by the inspiration and guidance of Satan to fulfill our noble destiny."

You know, aside from their support of Rick Scott, these Satanists don't sound too bad.

Yes Todd, Yes It Is. Let all those who Worship Satan, Or God do so openly if they wish. Some People Believe in a carpentar God, Others in a Fallen General Angel. Who are you to say what is true, or right?
