The Miami Hurricanes men's basketball team is now ranked third in the AP poll, the highest ranking ever in the team's history. Last week, the Canes were ranked 8th.

The team continued on its unbeaten path in the ACC this week by knocking off both Boston College and North Carolina in home court blood baths.

Meanwhile, several teams that were ahead of the Canes last week all took embarrassing beatings.

Miami also received 17 first place votes, the first time the team has received a first place vote in the AP poll since the 1960s.

The team only sits behind #1 Indiana and #2 Duke, though it's a tight fit at the top. Just 60 points separate Miami from Indiana, and only 16 between Duke and Miami.

The Hurricanes will continue its quest to remain perfect in the ACC with two road games against FSU and Clemson this week. Both are mediocre, middle-of-the-pack ACC teams this season.

Update: Over in The USA Today Coaches Poll, the Canes are ranked fourth, but received five first place votes. Duke, the team Miami completely routed a few weeks back is ranked first. Indiana and Gonzaga took second and third place.

The Canes are up seven place in the poll from last week's 11th ranking.
