Raul Castro Talks Retirement

Could the day that Cuba is no longer run by a man named Castro be in sight? Raul Castro is set to be sworn in for another five year term, but during a joint appearance with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, he raised the possibility of retirement.

"I am going to be 82 years old," Castro said according to The AP. "I have the right to retire, don't you think?"

The wire service notes however that the younger Castro's remarks came of as "light" and "informal."

Still, Raul will turn 82 in June and is less than six years younger than Fidel. He's also talked in the past about his desire to implement two-year term limits to all elected positions on the isle, including the presidency.

With another five-year term set to start this weekend it doesn't seem that his official retirement announcement is coming any time soon, but both these remarks and his advancing age could indicate that this could very well likely be Castro's last term.
