Stephen Ross Claims Tony Sparano "Damaged" the Miami Dolphins

What the hell exactly is a wrong with Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross? This is a guy who saw the public outrage over the Marlins stadium debacle, and almost immediately begins his own ill-timed campaign to seek public funds for a stadium upgrade. He's also apparently a guy who can't understand why an employee might be a little bit irked after he was publicly embarrassed.

Ross was on Den LeBetard's show on 790 The Ticket last week, and claimed that former head coach Tony Sparano "damaged the whole organization."

Of course, the damage came after Ross secretly flew out to California to interview Jim Harbaugh for a Sparano's job. Sparano was still under contract at the time, and word leaked out. Ultimately Harbaugh was hired by the San Francisco 49ers, and Sparano continued on as coach before being fired later on in the season.

Regardless of Sparano's fitness for a head coaching position, the episode was widely seen as a "douchebag" move on Ross's part. But the owner doesn't seem to understand why Sparano would have been upset.

"He could never put it behind him," Ross said. "I don't think he was the right head coach for the Miami Dolphins. I didn't hire him. We're a much better organization today than then."

Hmm, from our point of view it seems like stabbing your head coach in the back by interviewing someone else for his job might be considered an organization damaging move, but that's just us.

Ross however claims that under new coach Joe Philbin, the team is at its highest peak since the days of Don Shula.

"This organization is functioning the best since the [ Don] Shula days, [because] I picked the head coach with Jeff Ireland," he claims. "People see this organization is really on the uptick."

Mr. Ross, what people are you referring to who "see this organization on the uptick?"  Until you get rid of Ireland no respectable player will be enthused about playing for the Dolphins.  Maybe you're talking to the wrong people.
