Scientology Leader's Twin Sister Arrested on Pot and DUI Charges in Florida

Sounds like someone is plagued by a serious number of body thetans. Denise Gentile, the twin sister of David Miscavige, the top religious leader of the Church of Scientology, was arrested in Saint Petersburg on marijuana charges over the weekend.

Gentile is active in the church as well, and Scientology strictly forbids the use of any mind-altering substances. However, the Tampa Bay Times claims Gentile has a long history with drugs.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Gentile was spotted earlier this year by a police officer leaving a well-known drug house in St. Pete. The officer stopped her black Dodge Durango and got permission to search the SUV. He found a bag containing nine marijuana blunts under the driver's seat. Gentile burped, slurred her speech, reeked of alcohol, and had bloodshot eyes, police say. She also failed a breathalyzer test. She was charged with pot possession, DUI, and failure to yield, and taken to jail.

However, Gentile wasn't leaving just any random drug house. It was owned by her husband, and Gentile was charged with collecting rent. According to the Tampa Bay Times, she knew the tenants were using the house to sell drugs. It's been raided twice by police, and apparently neighbors say when she stopped by for rent she also left with a little something extra.

In fact, according to one tenant, Gentile began collecting payment for the water bill in blunts. She'd pick up 15 blunts instead of the $150 for the utility. The tenant says he's been supplying Gentile with up to 20 blunts a month since 2011.

However, none of the residents knew of Gentile's special connection to the Church of Scientology -- a church that strictly forbids drug abuse and runs a rehab program called Narcanon. As the sister of Scientology's top dog, Gentile has a long history with the church and has held administrative positions (the church's "worldwide spiritual headquarters" is located in nearby Clearwater, where Gentile lives).

Gentile has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being represented by a law firm with connection to the church.

Beware of Scientology's drug program, called Narconon, which lies about it's success rate. Gentile is an example of their those they don't include in their calculations.

She wasn't arrested "over the weekend", it was 10 JAN 2013.
