Hundreds of protestors marched through downtown Miami on Saturday afternoon as part of a nationwide vigil for local teenager Trayvon Martin, one week after his killer, George Zimmerman, was found not guilty of murdering him.

Miami's rally, which featured a speech from Trayvon's father, Tracy Martin, brought about 200 to Miami's federal courthouse to demand federal charges against Zimmerman and a repeal of Florida's Stand Your Ground law.

"No justice, no peace," shouted Liberty City activist Renita Holmes, as she led a march from the courthouse into Overtown. "Justice was denied for Trayvon."

The rally was one of about 100 nationwide organized by Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network. In New York, Sharpton reiterated that changing Stand Your Ground laws in Florida and other states was his top priority after Zimmerman's acquittal.

"We are trying to change laws so that this never, ever happens again," Sharpton according to the Miami Herald.

In Miami, Tracy Martin echoed that message a few minutes before noon.

Other Florida cities holding vigils today include Gainesville, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Fort Myers and Fort Pierce.

Let me point 4 things out to some of the people here.

1.  Martin was trespassing and peering into windows when he was first spotted.  In other words he was COMMITTING A CRIME!!!

2.  The Stand Your Ground defense played no part of either the Prosecutions case or the Defense.

3.  Zimmerman never uttered one word that was even close to being racist.  Martin on the other hand used a vile, racist term to describe Zimmerman.

4.  The Sanford Police believed Zimmerman broke no laws.  A independent Jury of his peers believed Zimmerman broke no laws.

George Zimmerman 'Justified' In Shooting ........juror B37”

the same george zimmerman that

It’s becoming painfully clear that the jurors in George Zimmerman’s murder trial acquitted a killer who had a history of violence, disruption and child sexual molestation.

“ex-fiancee, Veronica Zuazo. Zimmerman attacked her while the two were driving to a counseling session

Zimmerman followed a man in his car until the police arrived. Daniel Osmun, the other driver, told police that Zimmerman was tailgating and that he spit his gum out the window "out of frustration.

George Zimmerman cousin’s molestation and molested other young girls.

zimmerman work as security He was fired for being too aggressive with patrons. He picked up and threw a women. It was pure rage. She twisted her ankle.

He lied about his finances and the existence of a second passport there is no reason to believe anything else he say.

When an armed man can hunt down an unarmed teenager while on the telephone with a 911 dispatcher, kill the teen, and then walk away free, I think it’s fair to assume that there’s a serious problem with justice in the jurisdiction where the event took place.

but his HEART was in the right place" ...............juror B37”

This is a sicko, he will commit more crimes in the future, perhaps with one of the jurors children..

New Accusations Against Zimmerman Jurors As Sheriffs Office Admits It Allowed Unsupervised Access

I've been suspicious of this all along, especially after hearing parts of the interview with juror B37 & the fact that she had visitation from family.....her lawyer husband! You can safely bet that he had more than a few comments to pass on to her. They didn't "discuss". She just listened. I suspect as this article suggests that they had the book deal planned from day one. B37 and her lawyer husband should be charged with jury tampering & prosecuted. But first this calls for a mistrial. Throw it out, move the trial out of Sanford, get a real jury and find that murderer guilty. Not hard to do. He's admitted that he murdered the kid.

You have to be kidding, "Miami New Times Staff."

Don't you think there's an extra "S" at the end of that word?

Hundreds of people attended... Big deal. If it really was a news story, and not some media fueled event, thousands would have attended. More people attend a Marlins game!

How many white parents would be outraged if a grown black man and self appointed neighborhood watch man had profiled their child and began following their child who was doing nothing more than returning home from the store after buying candy for a younger sibling. Whose child wouldn't be frightened by a stranger, a grown man stalking them tries to stop them and question them for no reason, doesn't identify himself, what frightened teen would try to lash out try to protect himself from an aggressive stranger.Suppose Martin had a gun--he would have been well within his rights to protect himself when he realized this strange man (Zimmerman) was following him around for no reason that he could see, other than to possibly rob him or kidnapped/rape him. When an armed man can hunt down an unarmed teenager while on the telephone with a 911 dispatcher, kill the teen, and then walk away free, I think it’s fair to assume that there’s a serious problem with justice in the jurisdiction where the event took place.

Please share how you think this encounter started?

 What makes sense to you?

If George followed Martin, what happened next?

I REALLY would like to hear what makes sense to the TM supporters.

George calls cops, but starts a fight before they arrive?  Please tell me how it went down in your mind.

the problem is, I can't imagine this.  or pigs flying either.

I just can't fathom it.
