Castle With a Moat in the Redland Selling for $10.9 Million

Chateau Artisan
In South Florida, you can find a home fit for the King of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. No, really. For a cool $10.9 million, whether you're a member of House Lannister, House Baratheon, or House Tully, you can stake your claim to the Redland's Chateau Artisan, a 20,000-square-foot castle that sits in the middle of a five-acre moat designed and built by high-end-condo architect Charles Sieger.

After five years of living in Chateau Artisan, Sieger and his wife put the massive one-of-kind estate on the market earlier this year.

Large double wooden doors lead to a front garden.
"We've lived here for five years," Sieger told HGTV in February when the cable TV network profiled Chateau Artisan for the show Amazing Water Homes. "It took us six years to build it. We're done with it."

Chateau Artisan is a three-story estate modeled after a 17th-century French chateau.
Through his real estate broker, Sieger declined to comment about his magnificent abode. According to the real estate listing, Chateau Artisan is a one-of-a-kind castle modeled after a 17th-century French chateau. Sieger and his wife bought the land in 2002 for $414,000. Back then, it was just another tomato field in the Redland.

Wish they would bulldozer this eyesore down.  It is even uglier in person.  Yuck!

i've been in real castles and i've also been in large homes like this and there is just NO comparison of the bones of a many hundred year old brick and mortar structure to a modern echo-chamber dry-wall-boring mega-mansion barn-like structure as this

i guess WHICH IS WHY with LONDON BRIDGE they actually dismantled the real one and shipped it over here rather than use replication materiels and faux finishes

for real luxury however you could give me a suite in the MIAMI BILTMORE for the next thirty years at that price

apparently the builder didn't learn of the three most important factors in REAL ESTATE:

1)location,

2)location, AND

3)location

Something is amiss.  there is some reason they want to sell other than, "done with it".

I am thinking wildlife, mosquitos, plumbing, possible sinking, upkeep, etc.

don't wanna spend $10.9 million??? Buy this place for only $5 million! www.17201sw248thStreet.com Its not a castle....but you will have everything you need and more (unless you need a moat, then you have to build that on your own).

My sister used to take horseback riding lessons in that area so I recognize the main entrance. I've always wondered what it led to. Nice to finally know!

@ Deathray, I was born in France and I have been many times to the loire valley. It is a bit different :) There's nothing like France.

yup i haven't been to that castle BUT i did see a similar version in west homestead and it was just a residential building in muck out in the surrounding farms and nurseries - nothing elegant or refined or alluring to it - plenty isolated YES but absolutely no feel of exclusive luxurious living

So did the walmart you drag your ass into constantly, but hey. No offense, but if this guy bought and paid for the land, it doesn't matter what you think of it. He's not telling you what to do with your land....
