Karlie Tomica, the self-described "party princess" who hit Shore Club executive chef Stefano Riccioletti and then drove home drunk, has reportedly reached a plea deal with prosecutors. She'll spend just four years in prison, followed by two years of house arrest and 15 years of probation.

Tomica, a former FIU student and bartender at Nikki Beach, was driving home on Collins Avenue in the early hours of January 29 when her car struck Riccioletti outside the Shelborne. She drove off, but a Good Samaritan called 911 and followed Tomica to her Mid-Beach apartment building, where she was ultimately arrested. Tests showed her blood alcohol level was three times over the legal limit.

She was ultimately charged with DUI manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident with death, DUI with property damage, and resisting an officer without violence. After bailing out, she's remained on house arrest with a GPS monitoring anklet.

According to WSVN, Tomica has agreed to the prosecutor's plea deal. However, a judge must approve of the deal when Tomica appears in court Wednesday.

Tomica is also named in a civil lawsuit filed by Riccioletti's widow. The suit also names Nikki Beach Hotels & Resorts, Penrod Brothers, and Nikki Beach Special Events as codefendants. The suit claims Nikki Beach let Tomica drink alcohol on the job even though she was underage.

"we heard a bang and saw a black thing flying in the air, while it was in the air, it looked like oil was gushing out everywhere (blood) and a lot of pieces fell on top of the cars parked on the ramp (Shelbourne Hotel Ramp)... we did not realized it was a body until it came to a full stop almost at our feet" Thats how it was described to me by the Hotel's night Manager (I knew everybody on that block, I worked there)  The "pieces" that fell on top of the 2 cars parked there were parts of his brain... a total of 48 pieces of "brain matter" were found at the scene.

Think of this and everything else that she did... 4 years, what a joke. It sucks that this city is corrupt to the bone and they pretend like nothing is happening. I agree with Alexander, time to get a new DA.

This drunken bitch gets offered a deal where she will serve 4 years for killing a man.  Are you kidding?!  Time to get a new DA.  This one has got to be on the take.

Karlie Tomica was the product of failed parenting.

She was your typical loser, she was actively engaged in drug use, stealing, and was even drunk driving.

Does anyone really want to perpetuate this image as representative of the entire white community?

Do they want Karlie Tomica to become the poster child of an entire community?

Do they want a loser to be a symbol of an entire community?

This is nothing more than insult and a slap in the face of all the children who right now are busting their backs against all odds to succeed, to get the best education.

This idiocy would be a mockery towards every decent Black, Hispanic, Asian or White family in America.

Unbelievable!

Also, by her accepting this plea deal and her testimony given, she basically threw Niki beach under the bus. " I was drinking while at work and got very drunk ". Niki beach is in deep deep waters. Liv should be too after Ivanna got her sentence. Its time to end this culture of alcohol and glorifying this party life. At the very least we should get smart about it. Sleep it over in the back of your car. Call a friend. Call a cab......BUT for GOD SAKE DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!

Also, its a tragedy all around. Chef's family is devastated. Karlie's family is devastated. She is devastated. She honestly seems contrite. I feel really bad for all involved. Yes, she kind of got it easy. Still, is 4 yrs in prison, 2 house arrest, 15 probation (she could land in jail again if she makes any little mistake) and driver license revoked for life. The party is over. She destroyed her life and that of others as she correctly stated. God bless them all involved in this tragedy.

Far too light of a sentence for the loss of life.

Blonde, attractive, pulls at the heart strings of the men handling her case, for wanting to sleep with her, make love to her and tell her it's all okay now - I made you whole!

Twenty years to the door.  Should be thirty.  The Death Penalty is not unappropriated nor excessive; however, "not on the books."

Welcome to Florida! If you have money, are a cute girl or a sports man, YOU can drive drunk and kill valuable members of society and IT ALL WILL BE FINE!!! We got our Stars; Dante S, drunk his ass, killed a working pedestrian. Ivanna Villanueva drunk her ass and drugged killed a working lady, Karlie Tomica, drunk her ass killed a well respected and loved chef. NICE, isn't??? I am sure Chef Eisman is salivating.....probably they will give him 1 year. SO DISGUSTING AND PATHETIC.

COULD SOMEONE, anyone really, explain to me WHY a person will pay $1,200 for a bottle of booze YET NOT pay $25 for a cab ? ! ?

Florida laws are the worst! and all of us need to start vocalizing what changes we want for our state and our country. Start voting when those papers come home and say It's Election time.

Even though I generally don't like the idea of making an example of someone, in theory it should sort of work, if she had gotten ten years in prison or more and there was this big public ad campaign in Miami about some underage girl going to prison for a long-ass time because she drove home drunk maybe more people would get taxis or wait or whatever. Like, FOUR years for manslaughter / hit and run? Come on.

FOUR YEARS FOR MURDERING SOMEONE WITH YOUR CAR WHILE DRUNK??? THIS IS A SICK TRAVESTY!!! SHE DESERVES NOTHING LESS THAN 15-20 YEARS.  THE STATE ATTORNEY'S OFFICE IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY IS A JOKE!!!!!  And the issue that she was under age when served the alcohol at NIkki Beach Club is NO EXCUSE. She drank the booze willingly and it is not as if she was some Amish girl who had never drank before. SHE SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR HER CRIME. NIKKI BEACH SHOULD ALSO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. THERE SHOULD BE NO MITIGATION OF HER SENTENCE JUST BECAUSE SHE IS TESTIFYING AGAINST NIKKI BEACH CLUB.

Party Princess gets away with murder., go figure! 4 years is much too lenient, an innocent  man is dead because of her recklessness and people below commenting feeling sorry for her must be her friend or just delusional to think that she should be allowed to have a life back and finish college! lol what a joke! let this girl rot behind bars for her crimes so she can even come close to feeling the lose that his family has to deal with the rest of their lives.

i say kill her on every news channel at 6pm so that every family can watch with there kids and show them what will happen if they do that, lay her down on a table and put the needle in her arm and watch her die a slow death , than offer your kid a drink and ask them to drink and drive and remind them of the dead women on the table

Tomica was under the legal drinking age when she was served alcohol on its premises during and/or after her work shift on the night of the accident. She became “intoxicated to the extent she could not drive safely,”“The club knew or should have known that she was going to drive. It was foreseeable to the club that she posed a dangerous risk of injury or death to other motorists and/or pedestrians.”

The victim's family approved the terms of the plea deal in exchange for her testimony against Nikki Beach in their civil suit. So hopefully something will come out of this that will prevent such leniency on NBs part.

What's the actual "good behavior" sentence?

maryville

How would a longer sentence help anyone?  Would the  Riccioletti family sleep better at night knowing that she was in prison?  I doubt it.  Let her serve the time and attempt to regain her life--maybe finish college.

@mexkompa1  "Sleep it over in the back of your car. Call a friend. Call a cab......BUT for GOD SAKE DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!"

There's the problem right there. Once someone is drinking, All Good Decisions go right out hte window. Sad for all parties involved including this young, young lady who's life is over befoer it started.... Blessings to the victim and his family.

How is 4 years in prison, 2 years of house arrest, 15 additional years of probation 'getting away with murder'?  For crying out loud, she was 20 years old and made a stupid mistake!  I am just lucky I didn't end up in the same predicament she is now in when I was 20 years old.

patrickfinnen

@maryville do u know her or something? either way stop defending this piece of trash. why should she get to finish college? it obviously hasnt done much for her in the first place. i hope mr. ricciolettislife insurance/civil lawsuit covers enough for his children to even go to a decent college. theres no reason she should get another chance at life, she gave that up when she stupidly hit someone while driving drunk AND then was cowardly enough to drive away. dont defend scum, im sure youre better than that.

raffy981
raffy981

@lzhoover @mexkompa1 I do not agree... I have been very drunk and even when I have been there, I've always known what was right and wrong, I guess it comes from the good education i got AT HOME. Every one of us, even before we think about grabbing a drink know what could happen and make decisions. Press shift+4 a few times and you will know why she only got 4 years...

TitoCaneca
TitoCaneca

@maryville Having unprotected sex in Cancún with a stranger and getting pregnant is a stupid mistake. Driving drunk, killing a man and driving away is irresponsible and irreversible. What you are trying to say is that it was an accident, and no it wasn't. Although she did not plan to do it, for obvious reasons, she clearly could have prevented it from happening.

lzhoover
lzhoover

@patrickfinnen What do you think Mr. Riccioletti would like to have done to this young girl? Maybe he would like for her to repent by going and using this tragedy to speak to other young teens  about the horrific things that can happen when drinking and not being able to make good decisions after having imbibed. Wouldn't the public be better served by something positive coming out of this tragedy? Certainly she needs jail time but she also needs to use this in some way to make a positive impact on other's lives. By the sounds of Mr. Riccioletti, I believe he would agree. Finishing college would also be a good start to getting on the right path as well. I'm with maryville 100%

TitoCaneca
TitoCaneca

@patrickfinnen Dude, I am saying the same thing as you. Writing it off as a mistake as @maryville says is a huge understatement is basically the gist of it.

patrickfinnen
patrickfinnen

@maryville @TitoCaneca you gunna tell me if the roles were reversed youd be ok with him getting 4 years for killing a 20 year old white girl? if you think this is an acceptable punishment you should probably go play in traffic yourself.  I knew Stefano, he was a good man and a great chef, loved by many. This girl will never come close to touching as many lives the way he has, to this point in her life she's only ruined a few. So yea, her life should be taken away in the same stupid and cowardly manner Stefanos was. At the very least keep her away until her child bearing years are over, can't let this girl reproduce.

maryville
maryville

@TitoCaneca @maryville

So are you saying she should be in prison for 20 yrs., 30 yrs., forever?  What would that prove?  All it would accomplish is taking her life away.  Why should her life be taken away in addition to Riccioletti's?  It doesn't prove anything; it is strictly being vindictive.

peggy70a
peggy70a

@lzhoover @patrickfinnen  Same thing happened in Texas.  Drove with the gentleman stuck in the windshield.  Stupid woman parked car in garage. Man dies. Stupid woman gets fifty years.  Good deal.  Four years for hit and run while driving drunk!!    Ha, ha,ha.

patrickfinnen
patrickfinnen

Ok, so then it should've been 25 years jail, 5 years house arrest, bringing her to around Stefanos age. Then court madated Public speaking for minimum wage. She should not be allowed to have any assistance in funding her college education. So if you really want your positivity? There you go. She should not be allowed to bring another life into this world. She ruined a family, shouldn't get the chance to have her own. You can make a difference at the age of 50 too. The fact that she walks free at 26 is a joke!
