Taylor Hardy was arrested over the weekend after refusing to stop filming the production of a LeBron James commercial taking place in the Allapattah neighborhood.

Hardy, who gave his account of the arrest to Carlos Miller of Photography Is Not A Crime, said he was standing on a public street, among dozens of other onlookers, when a presumed member of the production asked him to stop photographing. Hardy refused and pointed out he has a right to be on the public street, but an off-duty cop working security didn't agree.

Hardy says he pointed out that many others were on the same corner and not being harassed by the crew, but the off-duty Miami-Dade sergeant demanded that Hardy walk down the street.

Hardy again refused so the cop grabbed his camera by the flash in an attempt to take it from him, he says. Hardy asked him to let it go, to which the cop reportedly told him if he didn't let go of it he was going to jail.

"'If you say one more fucking word, I'm going to throw your head on the ground and beat the fuck out of you,'" Taylor quoted the cop as saying.

Riptide requested a police report on the incident but an MPD spokesman was not able to locate it; we'll update the post when we get the report.

Sunday's incident isn't the first time Hardy has made news by fighting for his right to take photos in public. Back in March, he filmed a Miami-Dade paramedic who angrily demanded he stop filming an airlift rescue.

No. Give the horrific seen the privacy it deserves without some stupid a-hole on his I pad, recording like some ghoul for posterity or $$$. Where was he when Travon was curled up dead in the grass? You want to see that? fucking blood sucker. I would have, kicked his mangy bystander ass. He is a stupid asshole, violating privacy,. Before the injured man's relatives had to know of their tragic loss. fuck him. It is because of "people like him" that loved one's of a tragedy have to read about it in the news, to know it was their father, mother, wife, husband, or sister. What ever. The obviously 3rd world immigrant was obnoxious, and thoughtless wanting to get his picture. For What? This really is the problem today. Assholes, from a ass hole world, who do not give a shit, for a dollar, in my world. Go Home already.

Why should the police let a little thing like the 1st Amendment get in the way?

I'm all for freedom but I'm also wondering why this guy keeps having this happen to him.

I remember when I went to UM and lived on campus, they would use the field off of Ponce by the elementary school as an airlift "meeting point" for that area, so once in awhile we'd get a whole lot of racket when a medevac would land there. Being college kids, we thought it was cool and we'd bust out the Hi-8 camcorder and record the action. No one said a word, whether it was a paramedic or a cop. The only requirement was that we kept back for safety reasons, but we were free to record. However, this was the late 1990s...

You haven't been paying attention. The US has been under a soft form of Martial Law for some time now. Just go to D.C. and start taking pics of the monuments with a cam mounted on a tripod. See what happens. Sad but such is the way of things.

It was a bad weekend for Lebron.  You should do a story on the pre-concert police escort.

@Tony Miller because police keep over extending their authority?

ewallace978

@Tony Miller because he's standing up for his rights to do what any of us are allowed to do but have been conditioned to obey because some one in a uniform told them to do so.  He's a hero and the cop is a hired thug
