Trayvon Martin's Hoodie Could End Up in a Museum

Categories: News

The bullet-hole-ridden gray hoodie Trayvon Martin wore on the night of his death could find its way into a museum. At the moment, it's still being held by the FBI as the Department of Justice decides whether or not to pursue civil rights charges against George Zimmerman.

According to The Washington Post, the currently under construction National Museum of African American History and Culture, an institute of the Smithsonian Museum, has interest in acquiring and displaying the piece.

"It became the symbolic way to talk the Trayvon Martin case. It's rare that you get one artifact that really becomes the symbol," museum director Lonnie Bunch told the paper. "Because it's such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama."

The museum's collection will already include the handcuffs that detain Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. in an incident the lead to President Obama's "beer summit."

"Trayvon will probably be a bigger history maker than the men before him, because President Obama addressed the situation," Francis Oliver, curator of the Goldsboro Historical Museum, told The Orlando Sentinel. "As soon as the president commented on it, Trayvon went down in the history books."

Al Sharpton also would like to see the hoodie preserved, saying, "The hoodie now represents an image of an urban street kid that either embraces or engages in street thug life."

But for now the FBI is in possession of the hoodie as it continues its investigation. Eventually though it will be returned to the Sanford Police Department where Martin's parents will have an opportunity to collect it and ultimately decide its fate.

REALLY?!

Yes, the SYG law is draconian, Zimmerman committed murder, Trayvon was a young thug, and of course the jury should have had enough common sense to disregard a flawed law.

But enough with the “hoodie” already, it actually had nothing to do with what occurred that night.

→ Racism:

Prejudice or animosity against people who belong to other races. The belief that people of different races are inherently superior or inferior

why stop there with one artifact ?

why not get a piece of clothing from EACH and every ONE of the 72 people KILLED during the 4th of July weekend in CHICAGO ?

why not fill the museum with clothes like a GOODWILL BOX of ALL those killed in the streets in CHICAGO for the last ten years ?

make it like a BLACK HOLOCAUST museum fo ALL the kids senselessly KILLED on the streets

The US people can find a way to make a "business" out of anything, from immigration to murder. It is sad and tragic!

By the way, I have news for Mr. Kyle Munzenrieder.

The hoodie is not " bullet-hole-ridden."

There is only one bullet hole, you moronic yellow pseudo-journalist.

Well, of course they would, perversion has no conscience.

Zimmerman was on the bottom because he had to be to be. Otherwise he wouldn't have been able to claim self defense stand your ground as he shot this unarmed boy. Zimmerman was no dummy when came to how the scene needed to be staged. With his gun at the ready he knew his life was never in "real" danger. We know Zimmerman, we know. here is example of a hold george on bottom and tyrayvon on top http://nbcsportsmedia3.msnbc.com/j/NBCSports/Sections/UFC/PhotoArchive/YearReview/NogChokesTim.aim640.jpg

Trayvon Martin was the product of failed parenting.

He was your typical loser, kicked out of school, and kicked out from home. He was actively engaged in street fighting, drug use, stealing, and was even trying to obtain a gun at his age.

Does the Smithsonian really want to perpetuate his image as representative of the entire black community?

Do they want Trayvon Martin to become the poster child of an entire community?

Do they want a loser to be a symbol of an entire community?

This is nothing more than insult and a slap in the face of all the minority children who right now are busting their backs against all odds to succeed, to get the best education.

This idiocy would be a mockery towards every decent Black, Hispanic, Asian or White family in America.

Unbelievable!

no, Zimmerman gets to keep his gun. Since it's okay to murder unarmed black kids in this state.

Can we put Zimmerman's gun in the Smithsonian as well?

"Trayvon Martin was the product of failed parenting." EXILIADO

while this is TRUE you will never ever see it recognized by the BLACK community because that would defy the "we are the victims" trend of positions on why BLACK people do not succeed like the jews did, and the italians did, and the puerto ricans did,  and the asians and hispanics are today doing

once DANIEL PATRICK MOYNAHAN pointed out the "deterioration of the black family" the black community jumped him as RACIST

Pictures of guns, giving people the finger, smoking pot, a teenage boy fighting (gasp) are nothing compared to having a violent criminal record for domestic violence, assaulting a cop, molesting his underage cousin, bullying his coworker, bullying his neighbors, spread derogatory stereotypes about Mexicans, murdering a kid, (I'm sure there are lots more we don't know about), zimmerman supporters  I highly doubt you want the world to know the truth about your sickening  hero. I always find that when someone threatens the other side with exposure, they themselves are really the ones most afraid of it

Take your medicine, please.

The "kid" was a turd.  You can dig all the dirt you want about Zimmerman, that's not going to change who TM was. Making a hero-poster boy out of a POS is wrong.

I don't see anyone trying to make a hero out of GZ.

Then go to school. Learn to read. Read what Florida law says. (Chapter 776 will suffice)

Then go back to school. Learn what a fallacy is. After all that,  I will gladly have a debate with you.

“Looks like their hero is not so clean after all.”

George Zimmerman is a child molester who should have been in prison that night, rather than busy murdering Martin and then getting off free.”

George Zimmerman Neighbors Complained About Aggressive Tactics Before Trayvon Martin Killing

At an emergency homeowner’s association meeting on March 1,2012 “one man was escorted out because he openly expressed his frustration because he had previously contacted the Sanford Police Department about Zimmerman approaching him and even coming to his home,” the resident wrote in an email to HuffPost. “It was also made known that there had been several complaints about George Zimmerman and his tactics" in his neighborhood watch captain role.

It’s becoming painfully clear that the jurors in George Zimmerman’s murder trial acquitted a killer who had a history of violence, disruption and child sexual molestation.

“ex-fiancee, Veronica Zuazo. Zimmerman attacked her while the two were driving to a counseling session

Zimmerman followed a man in his car until the police arrived. Daniel Osmun, the other driver, told police that Zimmerman was tailgating and that he spit his gum out the window "out of frustration.

George Zimmerman cousin’s molestation and molested other young girls.

In 2005, Zimmerman was arrested and charged with "resisting officer with violence" and "battery of law enforcement officer." Both these felonies are considered third-degree. Due to his desperate attempts, the charges were reduced to "resisting officer without violence" and then the only remaining charge was also completely waived off when he entered an alcohol education program.

zimmerman work as security He was fired for being too aggressive with patrons. He picked up and threw a women. It was pure rage. She twisted her ankle.

He lied about his finances and the existence of a second passport there is no reason to believe anything else he say.

When an armed man can hunt down an unarmed teenager while on the telephone with a 911 dispatcher, kill the teen, and then walk away free, I think it’s fair to assume that there’s a serious problem with justice in the jurisdiction where the event took place.

Trayvon stood his ground and lost his life. And because he wasn't there to defend himself, Zimmerman took advantage of the law. The law isn't the problem. The problem is racial profiling.

This is a sicko, he will commit more crimes in the future, perhaps with one of the jurors children..
