All Seven Florida College Football Teams Won on Saturday for the First Time Ever

If you are a fan of a Florida Division I FBS football team, you had good reason to celebrate Saturday. It didn't matter which team you were rooting for. For the first time since the FAU Owls became an FBS subdivision team in 2005, all seven Florida teams won games the same day. Yes, even FIU and USF pulled out their first wins of the season.

FSU began the day with a 63-0 blowout of previously undefeated and then-25th-ranked Maryland.

Florida's two other ranked teams, UM and UF, overcame first-quarter deficits against conference rivals Georgia Tech and Arkansas to pull out convincing double-digit wins.

UCF, which remains a legitimate contender in the AAC, won its first conference game against Memphis, while FAU took home its first C-USA victory with a 37-23 win over UAB.

Perhaps the biggest stories, though, were the first wins this season for beleaguered FIU and USF.

FIU blocked a buzzer-beating attempt at a field goal by Southern Mississippi for a narrow 24-23 win. Sure, it was Southern Miss' 17th straight loss, but it is FIU's first win under new coach Ron Turner. Next week, the Golden Panthers will play UAB, the team that just lost to FAU, so maybe there's some hope for an actual mini winning streak.

USF also took a 26-20 win over Cincinnati in its first AAC conference game. The Bearcats were a respectable 3-1 going into the game. It was also their new coach Willie Taggert's first win with the program.

As the AP points out, Florida teams scored a total of 249 points to their opponents' 123.

FSU, UM, and UF all remain ranked, while plucky UCF continues to receive votes in the AP poll. It's a grand change of course since nearly two years ago, when on October 8, 2011 -- for only the second time since 1978 -- Miami, FSU, and Florida all lost the same day. That resulted in the first time since December 6, 1982, when not a single team in the state of Florida was ranked. New Times dubbed it "the worst weekend in Florida college football history."

"All three teams are under relatively new coaches, and maybe this is the college football gods' way of humbling us all before a new era of dominance," we wrote back then. "At least that's how we're hoping to take it."

Seems as if our prayers to the college football gods might have been answered.

We all know he's not an alumni, so who cares what he has to say? Just another uneducated wannabe who works a minimum wage job and lives with his mami and papi. Too many losers represent a university that purposely charges a high tuition to keep Miamians from attending. FIU at least cares about providing a quality education to the people. They're team is garbage, but at least you can be proud to represent what they stand for!

Will say this gotta give the other small schools credit too there are lot more division 1 football programs like Bethune, Jacksonville,FAMU, Stetson. I do believe even though as FIU alum UM grad. FIU as well as USF should be ashamed as well as the other FBS schools to lose to FCS school, and by large margins. Bethune is one of the best FCS teams in country. State rankings

1. The U - Long road but they are back to where they are noticed

2. FSU -Between Miami and FSU best two in state and will meet up in acc championship

3. UCF - How they played vs sc and almost had it they are a great team should not be in the AAC though

4.UF - All that talent nothing really worth a top 3

5.Bethune -best small school in the state proved they can beat bigger schools

6. Jacksonville -Lost alot of talent from past 2 years still a good team not great though

7.FAU- They have a excuse new coach due to retirement young team will get better

8.FIU- Pete Garcia destroyed this program to a point that it might not recover

9.USF - Team with alot of potential next year.

10.FAMU

11.Stetson

The ONLY team that matters is THE "U"!!! They've beaten 3 Fla. Teams, so far, and FSU will fall victim, just as the others. Go, 'Canes!!!!

@Loren Kimble: Yeah I watch that about over yr ago! It was a great docu on the Hurricanes. My whole perspective about the MU changed after watching it. They were all seen as nothing but a bunch of showboating trouble makers. When they used to play Norte Dame back in the days ND fans had signs that read: Catholics VS CONVICTS! Smh

FIU played Mickey Mouse U, FAU played a high school team and USF played their local HS JV team . Oh ... that's why they won ! (LOL)

if we are 100% honest with ourselves, we need State to beat Clemson and whoever else they play before us. Strength of schedule is a factor, but let's be real: when's the last time they lost 2 straight, with us being the second team? S/n: we really need to focus on getting healthy before UNC, and staying healthy through Wake. One at a time.

Sergio gets it. I've been saying that since we beat UF. I'm also rooting for V.Tech & FSU to keep winning as well.

Unfortunately Canes fans, we need UF to win to help our strength of schedule. It will hurt our BCS standings if not.

@Johnathan Robert Broad funny how this guy thinks he knows it all, First of all I am an alum of both schools, Been there when FIU was 0-12 best believe you were not around at that time or even attended FIU, went to UM got my masters and now living in sunny California working for the great University of Southern California, Where is my Mother and Father you might ask they are in Orlando,FL so no I do not live with them. UM makes it hard for students to get in because of its brand, you do not expect a high school student with a 2.5 gpa to get into harvard or yale do you? FIU is not a bad school academically dont get me wrong but that's not what this page is about it is about athletics. So as a UM student I find it disrespectful for you to judge someone that one you don't even know. Kind of makes you look like a loser. GO Canes

solglowpanthr
solglowpanthr

How would you know if they are an alum or not, lots of FIU students go to UM, FSU, UF for grad school. Sure team is garbage but no student wants to be at a school with a bad athletics program
