Fisher Island Club CEO's Wife Spent Christmas at Rikers Island for Grand Theft Sweater

For Stefanie Lackner, the socialite wife of Fisher Island Club CEO Bernard Lackner, orange was the new red-and-green this Christmas. According to the New York Post, the 46-year-old blonde is serving a month behind bars at New York's infamous Rikers Island for snatching a $5,000 sweater last year.

Mr. Lackner was named CEO of the Fisher Island Club in June 2012 after serving in a similar role at the Plaza Hotel Athenee. He oversees the hotel and social amenities on Fisher Island, Miami's most concentrated neighborhood/social club for the ultra-wealthy.

Mrs. Lackner apparently didn't make the move with him. The spouses, who have one child, are estranged.

Back in August 2012, Mrs. Lackner went shopping at the Brunello Cucinelli boutique in Manhattan, just a few blocks from the real estate office where she works. She tried on a $5,135 sweater but requested it in another size and never returned the original sweater she had brought into the dressing room. She apparently slipped the original into a shopping bag.

Police reviewed security footage and fingered Lackner as the culprit, but police didn't arrest her until this past November. She was originally hit with a felony charge, but she pleaded down to petty larceny and received a month in jail. According to the Post, she's sleeping in a room with 49 other beds and last night dined on "industrial-grade turkey."

No word on whether she's planning to cash in on America's recent Orange Is the New Black obsession by churning out her own memoir about being a privileged blond lady serving time in jail.

Only the wealthy can plead down a $5k theft to a petty larceny charge! Unjust in America.

Boy she was rich--- why couldn't her husband afford a good attorney and got her probation with community hours--- it's not like she shot someone....and it's her first offense. But Zimmerman's free. Crazy Justice. And no I'm not saying it was ok for her to steal.

If a Black woman was caught stealing $5k of clothing -- in NY or Florida --would they get to plea the Grand Theft FELONY down to a petty offense ??

...................and this week, at an after holiday mark-down sale, that same sweater is selling for $2,000, a price so low she would not have served any time in jail

well at least she didn't weasel like most of them do and carry-on with all manner of excuses and tirades - at least she is in there serving her penalty

I keep telling people, all kinds of people steal. I use to work for A & S and Macys. I've seen with my own eyes people with money stealing. Black people they watch more and will get caught. Jewish woman with baby carriage steals a lot. Muslim woman steals too they will take stuff under their dresses. I've seen all. All former NYC Mayor Guilliani daughter got caught in Sephoria stealing.

To be fair, she does have "lack" in her last name...e.g., lack-ing morals, lack-ing sweater, lack-ing excitement in her life, and so on. She Made-off with the sweater, but didn't get far...ha. Madoff... :P

Here we go. She is bi polar, going through a stressful cancer treatment that is dealing with a messy divorce and at the that same time worried about empty nest syndrome. Have we covered all her possible excuses for doing this? Oh, almost forgot, it is Obama's fault.
