Jameis Winston Won't Be Charged With Sexual Assault

Almost an entire year after the initial incident that triggered an investigation into whether or not FSU's superstar QB Jameis Winston sexually assaulted a woman, Tallahassee police have announced that no charges will be filed in the case.

"We have concluded that no charges will be filed against anyone in this case," said State Attorney Willie Meggs in his announcement.

Though a DNA sample taken from the accuser matched Winston, Meggs was told at least four different stories from witnesses who were at the off-campus December 7, 2012 house party at which the event took place. Apparently he decided there wasn't enough evidence to charge Winston.

Assuming Winston and the Seminoles beat Duke in Saturday's ACC Championship game, the number one team in the nation will go on to play in the BCS National Championship game. Winston is also widely speculated as the frontrunner for the Heisman trophy to be awarded on December 14.

If Winston was charged he would have been suspended from the team per team rules, and many in the media wondered if it would be appropriate to award college football highest honor to a rape suspect. Though this may not be the last we hear of the accusations, with the case now settled without charges Winston and the Seminoles' season will continue undeterred.
